Players are drawn to video games for a multitude of reasons. While some enjoy the grind of competitive multiplayer experiences, others seek to escape from the real world by immersing themselves in a fantasy world, and there are also those who are simply looking tokick back and relax in a fun casual game.
However, sometimes casual games are surprisingly hard, and this can either lean into the fun with friends laughing about their shared failures, or it can instead lead to frustration for players who weren’t looking to expend any brain power.

Golf With Your Friendsis most certainly a fun and casual game, but it also happens to be surprisingly hard. As players compete with their friends, they will feel their blood pressure rising as they fail to make a particular jump for the sixth time. There aren’t many easy holes inGolf With Your Friends, with lots of obstacles, weird angles, and even gravity zones on a certain space course.
To come out on top, players will need to find the right angles and the right power, and they will also need a healthy dollop of luck. In many cases, players will go way over par for a hole, and may even run out of time or attempts. Thankfully, these struggles only add to the fun when playing with friends, as long as everyone is able to laugh it off.

4KartRider: Drift
Drifting In This Kart Racing Game Is Surprisingly Complex
Kart racing games, such asMario Kartare usually super casual and often involve lots of luck and chaos. However, whileKartRider: Driftdoes have Item Mode which embraces the chaos, the standard Speed Mode is rather difficult to master.
Drifting in this game is a real skill that must be learned over many hours of practice, and even once players havegot a hold of the basics, there is a long way to go on the road toward mastery. As this mode rewards players with speed boosts for drifting, it is an essential part of the game unless players want to come last in every race. In terms of the tracks, these start off easy, with more difficult and fun ones being unlocked down the line.

Due to the iconicZoo Tycoonseries being fairly easy and more centered around fun, many may look towardsPlanet Zooas a game they can play casually to make their dream of designing a realistic zoo a reality. However, whilePlanet Zoocan be a relaxing casual game played on pause or low-speed settings, it’s also a difficult game to get to grips with.
For example, building habitats or enclosures is pretty complex, and at the start, many players will be completely stumped. Even once players know what they are doing, building can be finicky at times, although patience does pay off as it’s possible to make sometruly realistic designs. Additionally, there are likely noPlanet Zooplayers who haven’t had their blood boiled by the path system not working as intended. However, building is only one part of the game, and players will likely find the in-depth management a struggle too, with keeping staff, guests, andanimals happy, as well as preventing disease outbreaks and constantly stopping animals from inbreeding.

When one imagines agame of football/soccerplayed with cars, the difficulty isn’t exactly the first thought to come to mind. However, while there remains plenty of chaos and lucky bumps, there is also a surprising level of difficulty when it comes toRocket League.
As masters of the game have shown, there is an incredibly high skill ceiling, which ironically involves dribbling high in the air very close to the stadium’s ceiling. Goalkeeping is pretty hard too, especially repositioning after an initial save or deflection. Timing mid-air shots is another of the game’s tricks to master, but thankfully players should have lots of fun while learning all this, especially if they are playing with friends.

As a co-opcooking gamewith cartoon graphics, players jumping intoOvercooked 2might think they are in for a laid-back bake-off with their friends. However, while theOvercookedgames are certainly casual and fun, they are far from easy, as players are up against the clock to fulfill the orders of their hungry customers.
With areas of the kitchen cut off from one another, players must throw spaghetti and other ingredients at one another, chop, put things on to cook, utilize conveyor belts, wash up, and much more. Trying to organize all of this among a group of two, three, or four friends gets incredibly hectic, especially as fires start to break out or mice try and steal food, but this is also where the fun lies.
