Remedy Entertainment has good news for fans who are excited forAlan Wake 2to come out, as production on the title seems to be moving along quite well.Alan Wake 2is the long-awaited sequel to the original 2010 cult classic game that captivated fans of horror with a unique story and flashlight-based gameplay.
AfterAlan Wake Remasteredreleased in October 2021, bringing the title to PlayStation gamers for the first time after eleven years of Xbox console exclusivity,Alan Wake 2was officially announced at The Game Awards just two months later. Since then, it’s been one of the most highly-anticipated AAA games of 2023. In 2020 Remedy also confirmed that the worlds ofAlan Wake,Quantum Break,and its 2019 original titleControlall exist in the sameRemedy Connected Universeafter fans found strong references toAlan Wakeamong FBC documents inControl. With multiple projects underway at Remedy, it’s looking likeAlan Wake 2is far and away the most imminent.

In a financial earnings report, CEO of Remedy Entertainment Tero Virtala shared thatAlan Wake 2has entered the final stage of production. He added thattheAlan Wakesequel is still on track for release later this yearand that as it nears shipping day some developers will be shifted to Remedy’s other projects, a common practice in the world of AAA game development.
Alan Wake 2is just one of several other projects being worked on by Remedy. The earnings report highlighted that thesequel to 2019 smash hitControlhas progressed into the proof-of-concept stage earlier this year. The same was said aboutCodename Condor, a co-op multiplayer title set inControl’s mysterious world. Additionally, Remedy’s free-to-play co-op gameCodename Vanguardand the remakes ofMax Payne1and2are also in the proof-of-concept stage as well. All that said, it seems like out of all these projectsAlan Wake 2is clearly the farthest along in production, and thus the most ready to be released.
WithAlan Wake 2nearing the end of production and on track to release this year, it wouldn’t be crazy for fans to expect its release date to be unveiled in June as part ofGeoff Keighley’s Summer Game Festor perhaps at Xbox’s or PlayStation’s Summer showcases. It’s also a safe bet that the long awaited sequel could be aiming for a Fall 2023 release, maybe even in October considering its status as a major horror title.
