After years of speculation and leaks,God of War Ragnarok’s release on PS4 and PS5 is almost finally here. On November 9,Kratos and Atreus’ last Norse adventurewill officially hit store shelves. Players subsequently only have a week or so to dodge the story spoilers that have already started to spill out onto the internet.
Players have other topics to keep in mind asGod of War Ragnarok’s release date approaches, though. To celebrate the event, Santa Monica Studio and Sony have revealed that several special edition versions of the game are also set to hit shelves in November. While each nets players a copy of the game, there are some significant differences between them that should be kept in mind.

God of War Ragnarok’s Launch Edition
In recent years, more developers have started to label the first version of their game’s release as a special Launch Edition. Santa Monica Studio is no exception to this either. Players who pick up a copy ofGod of War: Ragnarokon its release day will get access to Kratos and Atreus’ Risen Snow Armor and Tunic as a reward. Priced at $59.99 and $69.99 on PS4 and PS5 respectively, once the Launch Editions sell out, reward-free incarnations will likely replace them at that same price.
God of War Ragnarok’s Digital Deluxe Edition
For players who prefer their content to be strictly virtual, a Digital Deluxe version ofGod of War Ragnarokis available on the PlayStation Store. While this special edition costs $79.99, it does include both the PS4 and PS5 versions of the game. In addition to the Darkdale cosmetics for Kratos and Atreus’ armor,Leviathan Axe, and Blades of Chaos, several pieces of bonus media feature in it too. These include a special PS4 theme, avatar set, soundtrack, and mini Dark Horse published artbook.
God of War Ragnarok’s Collector’s Edition
While the Digital Deluxe version ofGod of War Ragnarokwill live on the PlayStation Store indefinitely,Ragnarok’s Collector’s Editionwill have already passed most players by. That’s down to the fact that this special edition has sold out almost instantly whenever Sony has opened up pre-orders for it on its website. That’s arguably a testament to the content it includes, considering its retail value was set at $199.99 by the publisher.
In addition to including everything that’s found inGod of War Ragnarok’s Digital Deluxe incarnation, the Collector’s Edition comes packaged with several physical collectibles. Even though this edition only features a digital copy of the game, a Knowledge Keeper’s Shrine box and steelbook case will keep the rest of its content safe. In addition to these, a set of Dwarven Dice and two Vanir Carvings will also be found within.
A replica of Thor’s iconic Mjolnir arguably headlinesGod of War Ragnarok’s Collector’s Edition. Beyond being highly detailed, this model is 16 inches long as well. That means it should have some decent heft to it, similar to the virtual version thatKratos will face off against in-game.
God of War Ragnarok’s Jotnar Edition
Like the Collector’s Edition,the Jotnar Edition ofGod of War Ragnarokhas also been highly sought-after despite its $259.99 retail asking price. To make the package that’s named after the giants more enticing, Sony has ensured that all the Collector’s Edition’s content features as a starting point.
Wearable collectibles are one ofthe Jotnar Edition’s recurring themes, as a Legendary Draupnir Ring and set of 3 Pins headline the bonuses that are exclusive to it. Players who were lucky enough to pre-order the edition will also receive several silver-finished dice, as well as a cloth map of Yggdrasil. Sony likes to release albums based on the soundtracks of its games, which means it’s little surprise that a Vinyl Record with music byRagnarok’s composer, Bear McCreary, rounds out the package.
