Marvel’s smallest hero has returned to the big screen in the latest MCU filmAnt-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. While Ant-Man will likely appear again in a future MCU film, Marvel may also want to consider giving him his own video game.Ant-Manmay not be the most popular Marvel hero, but his shrinking powers could lead to a pretty unique game for fans to enjoy akin to something likeGrounded.

Ant-Man is all about shrinking down to the size of an ant and fighting evil, so his movies are filled with real-world objects getting shrunk, growing larger, and being used as weapons. He is often seen fighting alongside various bugs, and he spends much of his time bite-sized, which could translate well to a game.If Obsidian Entertainment’sGroundedis anything to go by, a tiny superhero adventure could be well worth a playthrough.

Ant-Man Could be the Star of a Unique Marvel Game

Theconcept ofGroundedis pretty simple, with players shrunk to the size of an ant and forced to survive in a backyard. It has all the hallmarks of the survival genre, in which players must collect resources and fight back against various insects if they want any chance at surviving. It is likeHoney I Shrunk the Kidswith survival game mechanics, and that may be the closest video games have come to delivering an Ant-Man video game.

While Ant-Man is not a teenager forced to survive in a backyard, Scott Lang will shrink and grow to combat his enemies, and he will often work alongside insects like ants. The firstAnt-Manfilm saw him ride flying ants into battle, fighting on a train set, and running through the world ant-sized.Ant-Man and the Wasptook all these shrinking shenanigansto the next level, and showcased Scott’s ability to grow larger as well. Both films delivered some wild fight scenes and funny scenarios centered around this power, and a video game could take advantage of the concept too.

Whilean Ant-Man video game following Hank Pymor Scott Lang would likely not have the survival mechanics ofGrounded, it would probably have a similar game world and aesthetic with a superhero skin attached. There are many different superhero games coming out in the next few years, but a lot of them seem to be fairly similar. Games likeGotham KnightsandSuicide Squad Kill the Justice Leagueare giving players control of superhero teams in action-adventure titles, meanwhile titles likeMarvel’s Spider-Man 2andMarvel’s Wolverineare giving players a deeply personal story about some of the most popular heroes around. Most of these seem like they will be a lot of fun, but an Ant-Man-centric game could be like nothing that Marvel has done before.

Ant-Man has a ton of potential in video games, but it is unlikely he will ever get his time to shine. He’s just notas popular as heroes like Spider-Man, Iron Man, or Wolverine are, and his films have never broken box office records akin to heroes like Black Panther. While the MCU has helped him gain a bit of popularity, a game featuring the shrinking superhero would still be very risky. Perhaps one dayAnt-Manwill be able to star in his own project, but that will probably not be anytime soon, so in the meantime fans should enjoyGrounded.
