During an interview withEmpire Magazine, Wan expressed his desire to direct a thirdAquamanproject in the DC Universe’s future. Wan’s potential involvement depends onGunn’s plans for the DCU, which remains uncertain. There is a possibility that Gunn and Safran may approach Wan for directingAquaman 3in the new DC Universe, but Wan would only do so on one condition. “I haven’t directed a third movie [in a series] before, so I’d be open to doing another [Aquaman] if I got the same freedom I’ve had on these first two,” Wan said. “I’m not sure what direction [James Gunn and Peter Safran] are going in, though, so who knows? I’ve learned to never say never.”

The filmmaker also didn’t shy away from talking about all the behind-the-scenes drama that happened in recent weeks and claimed thatAquaman 2only had seven or eight days of reshootsin total, despite rumors that the reshoots took place in three separate rounds. Wan also added that he “had to learn to be more Zen in dealing with all the noise around me.” He stated, “I’ve had to learn to be more Zen in dealing with all the noise around me, for sure. I’m a pretty private person. I don’t get on social media and have fights, but it’s difficult because this narrative has emerged that is not the reality. The noise is fun to write about, and it gets clicks, but people don’t know the truth. We probably did seven or eight days of reshoots, which is nothing for a movie of this size. It was just spread out because it’s so hard to get your actors back once you’ve finished the initial shoot.”

Earlier this month, a report citing “raw notes” from Amber Heard’s therapist, Dr. Dawn Hughes, detailed alleged behavior by Momoa and Wantowards Heard on theAquaman 2set. Momoa allegedly harassed her by dressing up as Johnny Depp during her defamation lawsuit and attempted to get her fired.

AsAquaman and the Lost Kingdomnears its release, the impact of the BTS drama on the movie’s box office remains uncertain. Will Momoa or others address the reports following Wan’s comments? It would be intriguing to see.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdomis scheduled to hit theatres on July 07, 2025.
