In a new promotional video for upcoming animations this year,Netflix included a brief teaser forArcaneseason 2(new footage appears at the 2:39 mark). Although only about 15 seconds long, the teaser offers a glimpse of both new and returning characters and hints at what to expect in the next season. Vi and Caitlyn are front and center in new outfits, accompanied by three new characters. Additionally, there isa brief appearance by Jinx at the end, suggesting something significant is coming. With a voice-over, presumably Caitlyn’s, saying, “We’ve got a few surprises of our own,” the teaser leaves fans eagerly speculating about its meaning.

Undoubtedly, the highlight of the teaser is our first glimpse of Caitlyn and Vi in the second season. The footage features them in Enforcer uniforms (Piltover’s police department), accompanied by three new characters. These new characters appear to be entirely original toArcaneandnot derived from the game. Caitlyn’s new look is not surprising, as it is just a slight variation of her appearance from the previous season. Already an Enforcer, she previously wore something similar. However, in the teaser, she appears much more authoritative, suggesting she might be leading a task force. She is seen wearing a white beret, a red ribbon around her neck, and black pants. On the flip side, Vi’s appearance comes as a complete surprise, as she too is clad inan Enforcer uniform. While this would align with her portrayal in the game, it feels out of place in Arcane. Having grown up in the undercity under oppressive authoritarian rule, which she vehemently opposes, seeing her in a police uniform in the teaser evokes a sense of discomfort.

All of this has led fans to speculate about what is in store for the next season and why Caitlyn and Vi are wearing such uniforms. One theory stems from the cliffhanger in season 1, wherethe Piltover council granted Zaun independence, and Jinx launched a rocket at the council. In this scenario, Vi might have joined the Enforcers to apprehend her sister, driven by the desire to capture Jinx without causing harm and ultimately save her. The series often emphasizes their strong bond, suggesting Vi’s willingness to redeem Jinx. Another theory posits that this uniformed appearance is part of a diplomatic effort between the council and Zaun, aimed at preventing war after the attack. Vi could be serving as a mediator between the cities, leveraging her knowledge of the situation and to prevent Zaun’s retaliation. While these are merely speculative theories, the premiere is only a few months away, offering eager fans the chance to finally uncoverwhat lies ahead inArcane.
