An artist has shared their creation of turning nearly every Pokemon into Mimikyu. The art has gained lots of attention from thePokemoncommunity, who are impressed and charmed at the effort.
Mimikyu is a unique Pokemon in that it hides its true nature all the time by wearing a Pikachu-themed disguise. The Pokemon is said to be so alarming to look at outside of its disguise that it can instantly kill someone out of pure shock. Ultimately, Mimikyu doesn’t seem to be intentionally harmful, and is looking for someone who can appreciate it. However, this piece ofPokemonart gives an idea of what it would be like if Mimikyu had chosen a different Pokemon - or all of them - to disguise itself as.
Pokemonfan artist GalaxyOpal56 shared multiple pages of Mimikyu on thePokemonsubreddit, with nearly every single Pokemon having been turned into a Mimikyu. The main exceptions are most shiny variants and upcoming Pokemon in Indigo Disk. In addition to designing Mimikyu for all classic Pokemon, Gigantamax and both past and futureParadox Pokemonare included in the list.
While GalaxyOpal56 isn’t entirely sure how long it took them to pen the art, they started on the herculean effort back in September. For fans of the new Pokemon designs coming out inDLC forPokemon Scarlet and Violet, the artist also plans to create Mimikyu forms for them as well once Indigo Disk has been released. One fan asked if they planned to do all of the shiny forms of Pokemon, but GalaxyOpal56 declined, noting that it would be difficult to do so and that they’re rather fatigued of drawing Mimikyu variants.
Some fans were so inspired by the Mimikyu art that they expressed a want for these forms to be in an actualPokemongame, or at least a hacked fan game. Catching every Mimikyu would be a difficult task, and perhaps too time-consuming, as one other player pointed out. Nonetheless, chances are manyPokemonfans would be happy to collectMimikyu that look like their favorite Pokemon.
Many fans are content to create fanart depicting Pokemon as they’re seen in-game, but artists like GalaxyOpal56 often take it one step further, creating spin-off or hybrid forms that don’t officially exist. OnePokemonfan isturning every Pokemon into a human, while others are dreaming up Pokemon fusions. Whether Mimikyu will gain alternate forms or disguises in aPokemongame remains to be seen, but fans will keep making art and designs that are impressive enough to be mistaken for the real thing.
