It’s been confirmed thatBeat Saberwill be coming to the PlayStation VR2. This will be good news for fans of the hit rhythm game who have been wondering if they’ll be able to take the block-slashing fun into the next generation ofPlayStation VRhardware.
Between accessible gameplay, a high skill ceiling, and loads of official and community support,Beat Saberremains a popular fixture in the VR scene even after nearly four years on the market and plenty of competition from newer games. However, while it’s been playable on the original PS VR since launch,Meta’s purchase of developer Beat Gamesin 2019 opened up the question of whether the game would ever come to Sony’s next VR headset, or if new releases would be restricted to the former Facebook’s line of Meta Quest devices.

Now it’s been confirmed that that won’t be the case. Sony held a keynote at the Consumer Electronics Show this week, and there it announced thatBeat Saberwill be coming to the PS VR2. Beyond that, though, no other details were revealed at this time, but it’s a given now that they’ll come at some point. It’s just a question of when that will be exactly.
No doubt some will still be eager for more answers. For example, it’s not yet known when exactlyBeat Saberwill come to the next-gen VR headset. It’s possible that it may end up being part of thePlayStation VR2’s launch lineupwhen the device debuts on February 22, or it could end up coming later on this year.
There’s also the question of whether Beat Games will offer a free upgrade for those who own the game on the original PS VR, or if the port will utilize any of theunique features of the PS VR2, such as eye tracking in the headset or haptic feedback in the controllers. For now, fans will have to be content just knowing a port is happening.
Beat Saberbeing confirmed for PS VR2 was just one of the announcements made by Sony at CES 2023, and it wasn’t the only port announced for the headset.Gran Turismo 7is also coming to PS VR2at launch, and it was confirmed that it will be a free update. Combined with titles includingHorizon Call of the Mountain,Moss: Book 2, andResident Evil Village, that will bring the total number of games launching alongside the PlayStation VR2 to over 30, according to Sony.
Beat Saberis available now for Meta Quest, PC, and PS VR, and is in development for PS VR2.
