Updated on June 12, 2025 by Ritwik Mitra:Arma is one of the most underrated series in gaming, and the fact that several big games in the industry started as mods for this project is a testament to how malleable the engine was. PUBG is a game everyone is familiar with, and another game that transformed from a mod for Arma 2 into something bigger is DayZ. This multiplayer survival game encourages players to band together in a sandbox title where they must scrounge for supplies to survive in a harsh post-apocalyptic world overrun by zombies. Suffice it to say, there are several games that players can check out to scratch the same itch that DayZ targets.
A game that was unfairly lambasted at launch,Days Gonedidn’t live up to the high standards set by otherPlayStation exclusives. However, this doesn’t mean the game is poor by any stretch of the imagination.

The unique horde mechanic ofDays Gonemade it more important to be careful around a cluster of zombies. Deacon St. John may come off as unlikable early on, but there’s more to his character than what meets the eye, and players get to experience this firsthand if they give this game a shot and weather the slow pace of the first few hours.
Most people agree thatValheim’s full release will mark a breakthrough in the survival sandbox genre. The game perfects and tweaks various facets of survival gameplay to make for a great time, and the way it changes how food is handled in such games is a great example of the same.

Even in Early Access, the sheer number of things players can accomplish inValheimis nothing short of staggering. If the base game fulfills its promise of more than doubling the content present in this version, thenValheimis poised to break the internet in a major way.
