Enshroudedis a 2024 action survival roleplaying game that subtly blends genres to produce a coherent, compelling whole. In an era when developers typically use procedural generation to populate large maps,Enshroudedshows how attention to detail and hand-crafting can produce a much more immersive gaming environment.
Staff weaponsare one of two types of mage-focused weapons inEnshrouded. A staff requires ammo in the form of craftable staff charges. These are two-handed, high-damage weapons. In contrast, the other mage weapon, the wand, is a one-handed weapon that does not use ammo. Agood mage solo buildwill probably use both types of weapons, switching weapons depending on the situation. As far as staff weapons go, these are the best options for mages inEnshrouded.

TheBlackened Staffis a solid choice for players focusing onmage skills inEnshrouded. The Mana Leech upgrade is very nice, although it is the last upgrade slot on the weapon, so the player will need a stack of runes to be able to unlock it.
The Blackened Staff can be looted from any golden chest in the Elixir Well region. However, something to keep in mind when reading this list, is that it is based on reported loot locations at the time it was published. It could be that the Blackened Staff could be looted elsewhere that has not been discovered as of this writing. This holds true for all the items ahead as well.
Hopeful Glimmeris a good staff weapon for battlemage builds, with Shock Damage as an upgrade stat. However, the reason why this staff isn’t higher up on this list is because it can only be looted from golden chests in end-game regions of the map.
As Hopeful Glimmer is chest loot, the reload/respawnfarming methodcan be used. To do this, find a suitable golden chest, loot it, then drop back to the main menu and reload the game, the chest will then respawn with fresh loot.
With its Shroud Magic Damage bonus, and the fact this is a fairly easy staff weapon to loot, theMirage Staffis a solid staff forbeginners toEnshroudedwho want to play a mage. The synergy between the Shroud Damage bonus and the skill unlocks that boost this damage is great.
Early on in the game, players will be sent to locate and free the Alchemistcrafting NPC. On the way to this quest location, the player will unlock the Kindlewastes region of the map. This staff can be looted from any golden chest in the southwest part of this area.
TheRoot Staffis very easy to get, as it is a guaranteed drop from a golden chest. It can be located by heading to the Oasis region and looking for the large lava pool. On the edge of this pool is a small cave. Inside this cave is the chest that contains the Root Staff.
With Poison Damage and Mana Leech upgrades, this is a solid mid to late-game staff for mages. It does excellent damage, and is best used against magic-user NPCs for the Mana Leech to be at its most effective.
TheShepherd’s LightningStaff is a good choice of weapon for mages who don’t like switching weapons to apply different damage types. This staff is basically a blank sheet. It has no damage bonuses, and as such, can be modified by using the appropriate staff charge for a particular damage type.
With a Mana Bonus, it is great for extended group fights as well. Shepherd’s Lightning can be looted from golden chests in the Sun Temple, so this is a late-game staff. Players will need to have unlocked most of the map, and be fairly geared up to get into the Sun Temple in the first place.
TheUndergrowth Staffgets second place on this list because it is a very easy to loot staff thatEnshroudedplayers can get in the early game. It is also a great backup ranged weapon for warriors andtanks. Players usingtank skills,for example, might like to dabble in a handful of mage skills to exploit this weapon better.
To get the Undergrowth Staff, head to the Kindelwastes region and go into the city ruins. In the northeast corner of the ruins is the Flame Sanctum, with a kettle inside. There is a Shroud Root here, with a Thunderbrute boss patrolling the area. Kill the boss to loot the staff.
TheShroud Weaver Staffis a typical nuker-style staff. Heavy on fire damage and great for taking down enemies fast with the Fireball II charge. It spawns in a specific chest, and can be farmed using the reload/respawn trick. Be sure to bring plenty of lockpicks to farm this staff.
It can be found in a chest on the west side of the map, but to the southeast of the KIndlewastes Ancient Spire POI. Look for a large wooden structure, and the chest will be on top of this platform.
