Gamescom is one of the biggest gaming conventionsin the world. Located annually in Cologne, Germany, Gamescom is the largest gaming expo in Europe, featuring 370,000 attendants for its 10-year anniversary in 2023. Now, it is returning once more for 2024 from August 21 through August 25.
This year, however, Gamescom will see a popular studio that has never attended the convention before. Blizzard Entertainment will be at Gamescom this year with a presence focusing onWorld of Warcraft,Diablo, andOverwatch. Now a part of the Microsoft family, Blizzard will be a part of the Xbox team’s biggest Gamescom booth in history.
When is Gamescom 2024 Taking Place?
World of Warcraftwill be present largely to celebrateThe War Within, its newest expansion. The massive new update goes live on August 26 – the day after Gamescom – butearly access for players with the Epic or Collector’s Edition ofWoW: The War Withinstarts on August 22, one day after the convention begins, making it the perfect time to celebrate the impending release.
On the other hand,Diablo 4is preparing for its first expansion,Vessel of Hatred. With a release scheduled for October 8, fans can expect to see some new gameplay footage, information, and teasers about the DLC.Diablo Immortalwill also be at the convention, bringing the full force of Sanctuary for the community to enjoy.
Lastly,Overwatch 2will be at the convention as well. Porsche will have a joint stand withOverwatch 2inspired by their recent collaboration, featuring a life-sized D.Va statue modeled after the new electric Macan luxury SUV. The Blizzard booth will also feature a real-life rendition of an iconicOverwatch 2map for players to explore. Gamescom also takes place right after when Season 12 is scheduled to begin, soOverwatch 2will undoubtedly be celebrating the release of Space Ranger, its second hero release for 2024.
Beyond these Blizzard games, theXbox showcase at Gamescomwill featureAge of Mythology Retold,Avowed,Ara: History Untold,The Elder Scrolls Online,Fallout 76,Towerborn, and more. Needless to say, this year’s Gamescom is going to be huge for fans of these Xbox franchises.
