It’s possible to go by boat the whole way, and there are several shipping lanes and trade routes in operation that lead to London eventually, even at this point in history. On the other hand, many trade routes also led through the Mediterranean and Eastern Europe if something changed with their mode of transport.

He and Swordfather have a candid conversation about how they compensate, whether it’s blacksmithing blind or no-hands soba noodles. It would be interesting to see what Ringo learns from Swordfather in season two, even if it’s not directly related to the main plot.

Taigan’s story started on a high note, but his changing fortunes are an example of how quickly that wheel can turn. His failed duel with Mizucost him his social standing andhis position with the temple, and then his engagement to Akemi was called off, so she could marry another man. When the time comes, she chooses to stay with her new husband instead of run away with him.
There was no sight of Taigan aboard Mizu’s ship, but it would be difficult for her to make such a long journey alone and with a troublesome prisoner. On the other hand, if Taigan stayed, he couldserve as a samurai underAkemi’s brother-in-law, the Shogun of Japan.

During their fight in the last episode of season one, Abijah Fowler tells Mizu that the woman who she thought was her mother was actually her maid. It might have been a lie, but Abijah doesn’t have a motive to lead Mizu on about this when he already has vital information on her next targets, so it’s safe to assume he’s telling the truth.
It’s assumed that Mizu’s mother was just some random sex worker, but maybe that’s not the case. It’s not just her identity that’s a mystery, but where she is and what happened to her. Is she even in Japan anymore, and what does she know about Skeffington and Routely?
