Last month, Treyarch teased thatCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s Zombies mode would soon be seeing the return of the Tombstone Soda perk, though no official details were announced at the time. Now Treyarch has pulled the curtain back on its plans to introduce Tombstone Soda to theCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold Warversion of Zombies, and fans don’t have to wait all that much longer to see it added to the mix.
Treyarch has confirmed that the Tombstone Soda perk is coming toCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold Waron February 4. However, this new version of Tombstone Soda won’t be quite the same as fans remember from previous games in the series. This new version of Tombstone Soda will turn players into a shadow after they’re downed. While in this shadow form, players can explore theDark Aether, equipped with weapons that they can use to fight off zombies while they try to revive themselves. Dying while in this form means that players will be dead for good, so they will have to be careful.

Like otherCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold WarZombies perks, players will be able to upgrade Tombstone Soda usingAetherium Crystalsthat they unlock by playing the game. There are three separate tiers that players can unlock for Tombstone Soda, so the moreCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold Warplayers invest in it, the more powerful and useful the perk becomes. Treyarch has revealed what each tier of Tombstone Soda does for Zombies players.
The first tier will allow players to regenerate health while in shadow form, making it easier to revive themselves. At Tier 2, players will have a whopping 60 seconds to revive themselves, giving them a little bit more time to earn a second chance. And finally, the third tier ofCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s Tombstone Soda perkwill make it so players drop a Tombstone stash upon death that saves all of the items and weapons they’ve collected to that point.
TheCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold WarTombstone Soda perk is coming to the game alongside the new Firebase Z map. Originally, fans weren’t expecting a new Zombies map forCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold Waruntil Season 2, but Firebase Z is coming with the February 4 update. Tombstone Soda will have a dedicated machine on the Firebase Z map, but players will also be able to get it from Der Wunderfizz machine on theDie Maschine mapas well.
Tombstone Soda could shake up howCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold WarZombiesplayers approach the game, so it will be interesting to see how fans react to it come February 4.
