Despite Activision’s Ricochet Anti-Cheat system,Call of Dutycheaters have often gone unbanned for extended periods of time. This is partly thanks to the growing sophistication of these exploits, which was partially unveiled when aYouTuber recently gained accessto one of the scene’s most exclusive cheating groups. The content creator also revealed that six of the top 10MW3Ranked players were members of this group. Despite the battle against cheaters usually seeming like an uphill battle, real players can now enjoy a small victory.

Of course, shutting down one major cheat provider is like plugging a single hole in a flooding ship, but it’s certainly a step in the right direction. It seems thatCall of Duty’s Ricochet Anti-Cheat will need to receive major upgrades if Activision wishes to truly combat cheating.
In February, Activision confirmed that it’s continuing to work on improvements to Ricochet. However, large segments of theCall of Dutycommunity are understandably running short on patience. Cheaters have become prevalent in the upper echelons ofModern Warfare 3andWarzone’s Ranked modes, as well as regular public matches.
Why Does Call of Duty’s Ricochet Anti-Cheat Not Work?
To counter Ricochet, which is presumably quite sophisticated thanks to Activision’s massive resource pool, cheat developers use creative methods like disabling their software in the same millisecond that Ricochet scans a user’s UI. Suspected users have their screens screenshotted throughout a match, but these cheats can apparently detect when this is about to take place.
Many fans are hoping forActivision to continue pursuing cheat providersas time goes on. Ricochet’s main weakness is that it’s not a kernel-level system like Easy Anti Cheat or Riot Vanguard. However, a kernel-level anti-cheat comes with its own downsides, such as users claiming that it’s spyware due to its invasiveness.
