[UPDATE: Massive Resurgence Quads and Trios have been re-enabled by Infinity Ward.]

Infinity Ward has officially disabled the Massive Resurgence game mode ofCall of Duty: Warzone 2for the foreseeable future following player reports of unusual safe circle behavior. The much-anticipatedSeason 3 ofCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2was designed to address the issuesof several game modes and deploy fixes for longstanding technical problems and bugs. Instead, the update has caused new technical issues and sparked massive community backlash surroundingCall of Duty’s new BlackCell premium battle pass, leading players to struggle to enjoy the game.

One of the primaryWarzone 2-specific features of Season 3 is the introduction of the Massive Resurgence, a spin on the classic fast-paced battle royale but on a much larger scale. Since its introduction to the originalWarzone, Resurgence has featured a much smaller playing field than the larger battle royale maps. The combination of frantically-paced gunfights, smaller maps, and the ability to respawn placedResurgence as a favorite amongCall of Dutyfans. The first season ofWarzone 2shipped without Resurgence, but after a large part of the community advocated for it, the developers brought the mode back in Season 2 with a brand-new map to boot.

As the name suggests, Massive Resurgence applies all the features of the Resurgence game mode toCall of Duty: Warzone 2’s Al Mazrah. As more players started to test the waters, reports came in regarding unusual gas circle behaviors in several matches, where the safe zones would often spawn inside the gas itself. Infinity Ward officially posted on Twitter that the studio was outright disabling the Massive Resurgence game mode until a proper fix could be developed. It should be noted that Raven Software released a patch to address the issue, but reports of the problem persisting post-fix led Infinity Ward to take such a drastic step.

Infinity Ward has introduced the Resurgence Trios and Quads in the active playlist to compensate and provide players with additional avenues of Resurgence gameplay. Currently, players can enter Resurgence Quads, Duos, and Solos in Ashika Islands alongside the previously-mentioned Resurgence modes in Al Mazrah. While the safe circle spawning inside the gas presented players with an unwinnable situation, it didn’t stop content creators such as Bonq from claiming a clever and quickvictory inWarzone 2, as proved by the video they posted on Twitter.

While certainly annoying, the issue isn’t quite game-breaking, considering players can leave the match by checking if the safe circle is functioning as intended before even dropping in. ConsideringActivision’s dedication to supportingCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2for the foreseeable future, players can rest assured that a fix is in development.

Call of Duty: Warzone 2is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
