Call of Dutyfans had to wait an extra week forCall of Duty: WarzoneSeason 4 to start, but it’s now live in the game. Infinity Ward released theCall of Duty: WarzoneSeason 4 updatelate last night, bringing with it a number of changes to both the standardModern Warfaremultiplayer experience as well as theWarzonebattle royale.
In regards toWarzone, one of the biggest changes is the introduction of in-match events, with three in the game so far. These in-match events will trigger about halfway through any givenWarzonematch, prior to the Gulag closing, and all have interesting implications for how the game will play out. To start, Infinity Ward has added threeWarzonein-match events: Fire Sale, Jailbreak, and Supply Chopper.

When a Jailbreak happens, all eliminated players are entered back into the match, whether they’re fighting in theGulagor are just a spectator. They will be given a brief opportunity to resupply before they are added back to the game. Fire Sale, meanwhile, discounts the items thatWarzoneplayers can purchase at the Buy Station by a whopping 80%, and sometimes it gives out items for free. Buying back a dead teammate will always be free during a Fire Sale, though loadouts are never discounted. Fire Sales only last 60 seconds, and so they will make Buy Stations heavily crowded and dangerous areas for their duration.
The third and finalWarzonein-match event is called Supply Choppers. It makes a heavily armored helicopter spawn onVerdanskthat players can destroy to get some high-tier loot, like gas masks and cash. Enemy teams will have the opportunity to steal loot from players, regardless of who destroyed the armored helicopter.
Needless to say, theseWarzonein-match events have potential to significantly shake things up in the battle royale. Fire Sales alone could turn the tide in a big way and help a team that was nearly out of the game bounce back significantly. Jailbreak also seems like it could completely flip the table on a team that’s on their way to a victory, so it remains to be seen how the community will react to this new feature.
If nothing else,Warzonein-match events will ensure that there is a new degree of unpredictability that wasn’t present in the battle royale before. Depending on how the community reacts to this new feature, it’s possible that Infinity Ward will remove certain in-match events in future, like how itremoved Most Wanted contracts, or it may even add new ones to the mix. In the meantime,Warzoneenthusiasts can check out the in-match events that are currently available in the game.
Call of Duty: Warzoneis out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
