The diehard fans of your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man are going to be in for a treat the upcomingSpider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, as it’s been confirmed by the writer Christopher Miller that the titular character fromThe Spectacular Spider-Manwill make an appearance in the film.Fans of the show, which was axed for legal reasons as opposed to low ratings, have been begging to see that iteration of the wall-crawler for years. A fan responded to Miller’s tweet by posting the Turkish version of the new poster, which revealed more versions of Spider-man on the poster. Among the versions of the character included what looked likeThe Spectacular Spider-Manon the bottom right. The fan asked if that indeed was the character, to which Miller answered in the affirmative. Miller’s confirmation caused fans to erupt with joy, knowing that the film not only was going all outwith this Spider-Man multi-verse, but they were bringing back a version of the hero that’s universally beloved.
The Spectacular Spider-Manaired for two seasons from 2008 to 2009. During its airtime, fans gravitated to that version of the Marvel superhero because of how well it had managed to capture the duality of Peter Parker and Spider-Man. They pulled this off while also making it strictly a Spider-Man story with no ties to any sort of universe with other Marvel characters, which is not common in Spider-Man media. In a nutshell, it was mostly about a normal teenage boy with superpowers who dealt with other conflicts both internally and externally. Sadly the show was canceled because Sony no longer had the animation rights to Spider-Man.
That hasn’t stopped the fans from begging for the character’s return. While he will bein the upcoming Spider-Verse film, there has been no news regarding a possible revival ever since its cancelation over a decade ago. With his cameo confirmed, this will only fuel the fans' desire for this version of Spider-Man to come back even more. The show was not only canceled abruptly, but it was also axed after a cliffhanger, thus leading to fans pining for more of the story to this day.
This will only give fans hope that a revival could be coming. The show recently started streaming on Disney Plus, and show creator Greg Weisman has had multiple shows of his rebooted in the era of shameless reboots.
