Summary
It’s been almost eight years sinceCivilization 6first launched on PC, and while there’s been a wealth of DLCs and expansions for the game since then, many fans are longing for the next fully-fledged entry in the long-running strategy franchise. Thankfully, fans won’t need to wait too much longer, asCivilization 7now has aconfirmed 2025 release window.
Aside from a brief cinematic announcement trailer that seemingly confirmed the presence of two or three Civs on the roster,Civilization 7has remained pretty quiet, with the next wave of information set to release sometime in August. Naturally, there’s a lot for Firaxis to reveal aboutCivilization 7, from its launch roster to its gameplay mechanics, and while many fans are looking forward to hearing about all of the sequel’s inevitable changes, there’s one questionCiv 7’s August Showcase should answer as soon as possible.

Civilization 7 Should Reveal its Narrator Soon
The first instance of a major actor lending their voice totheCivilizationfranchisehappened all the way back in 2005 with the launch ofCivilization 4. During gameplay, whenever a player completes their research on a new technology, they’re greeted by the calming voice of the late Leonard Nimoy, most famously known for his portrayal of Spock throughout the variousStar Trekseries and movies.
When it came time to marketCivilization 5, Firaxis decided to double down on well-known actor cameos, with Keith David voicing several of the game’s trailers alongside other uncredited voice actors, some of which fans have theorized could be other celebrity cameos. WhenCivilization 5was eventually released in 2010, fans were quick to point out William Morgan Sheppard’s voice, with the renowned actor lending his talent to the game’s victory and introductory cutscenes, along with popping up to announce new technologies, Great Works, and Wonders. The most recent entry in the franchise, 2016’sCivilization 6, contained its own celebrity narrator, withGame of ThronesandGoldenEye’s Sean Beanlending his voice to both the game’s trailers and all the game’s eventual dialogue.

Civilization 7’s Narrator Has a Lot to Live up to
WithCivilization 7already expected to be the biggest and best entry in franchise history, fans are already avidly discussing who should be the game’s celebrity narrator, and some fans are really shooting for the stars. In some recent Reddit posts and beyond, fans have thrown out names likeJames Earl Jones, Morgan Freeman, and David Attenborough, all of whom would be great picks forCivilization 7’s narrator. Many fans have also asked for the return of Keith David, this time wanting him to voice the whole game rather than just its pre-release trailers.
With Leonard Nimoy, William Morgan Sheppard, and Sean Bean setting a lofty bar forCiv 7, it feels only natural that fans are going big with their predictions, but before things get too out of hand, Firaxis may want to get ahead of the speculation.Civilization 7’s upcoming August Showcaseseems like the perfect place to announceCiv 7’s narrator, ensuring that fans don’t continue to build their expectations too high.
