AnOverwatch 2player faced a confusing bug, forcing them into a Push match despite them already fighting on another map. Push mode is a new category of maps introduced withOverwatch 2that keeps on surprising players three months after its release.

WhenOverwatch 2came out in October 2022, Blizzard announced making a change to its FPS map pool. The company decided toremove Assault maps fromOverwatch 2to replace them with a brand-new Push mode. The Assault maps, also known as Two Control Points or 2CP, were deemed too lengthy, sometimes leading to seemingly never-ending fights when no team managed to get the upper hand on their opponents. On the new Push maps, players fight to take control of a robot that they need to escort to a specific location - but as both teams need to move the same robot, it leads to intense fights to take hold of it.

AnOverwatch 2player going by the name of ArtBringer on Reddit shared a clip of their latest game showing a confusing bug forcing them into a Push match. As they were in the middle of an intense fight in Junkertown, the server closed due to an unexpected error and the game threw them into Esperança, one of thenewOverwatch 2Push maps. The player published this strangeOverwatch 2bug on Reddit to share their confusion.

TheOverwatch 2players from the game’s official subreddit were equally surprised by this confusing bug. Some joked that it was Blizzard’s way to promote Push maps, as they are not highly popular among players. In the comments, severalOverwatch 2players complained that they never asked for Assault maps to be removed, nor did they want thefast-paced dynamic promised by Blizzard with Push maps. Several comments deemed this Push mode boring, too focussed on heavy assault rather than strategic planning, resulting in matches that look more like deathmatches rather than well-planned cooperative battles. Some even commented that unless they were in anOverwatch 2competitive match, they immediately left the game whenever they saw a Push map loading.

Despite the lukewarm reception to Push maps, thisOverwatch 2game mode doesn’t seem to be going away anytime soon. Blizzard regularly publishes updates to improve its FPS, from time-limited events to hero balance changes and new skins.Overwatch 2game director Aaron Keller recently revealedBlizzard’s plans to nerf Roadhogto prevent this tank hero from killing others with a single shot and bring more balance to the game. More information about the future ofOverwatch 2, and especially its PvE mode, could be revealed during Blizzcon 2023.

Overwatch 2is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
