Crytek has just put up a job posting for a technical director for a new game, and all signs point towards this being aCrysisgame. The job posting itself doesn’t tell much about the game except that it will be aAAA title, but recent events make things pretty clear.

Two days ago, theCrysisTwitter account made its first post in four years. This post simply said “RECEIVING DATA” in all caps with no image, but the following tweet which was posted yesterday gave a little more insight. It referenced Nomad, the main character from the firstCrysisgame, by name.

crysis remake or crysis 4

Referencing Nomad has led many to believe that aremaster of the firstCrysisgameis in the works, and the new job posting from Crytek certainly seems to support that assumption. That said, though remasters and remakes are extremely popular right now, that isn’t the only possibility.

The player controls Nomad throughout the entirety of the firstCrysisgame, and by the end of the game he is still alive and well. Despite this, he does not ever appear inCrysis 2orCrysis 3, a fact that confused a lot of players. This is because there is actually a six part comic series which details what happened to Nomad following the events of the first game and leading up to the second. By the end of this comic series, Nomad sacrifices himself in order to protect one of his comrades, and everyone assumes he is dead. Still, what if he isn’t? Many are pondering whether it would be better to have aCrysisremaster orCrysis 4.

Regardless of whether the new game isCrysis,Crysis 4, or something else entirely, the job seems like a pretty sweet gig. Should one meet the steep requirements of having 10+ years experience (three of which must be as a lead designer), excellent understanding of game development and related fields, and be willing to relocate toCrytek’s German based headquarters, they’ll be treated to free public transportation, free German lessons, work visa assistance, and a place to live all covered by Crytek.

ACrysisremaster seems much more plausible thanCrysis 4, however, as the extent of Nomad’s fatal wound makes it unlikely that he will return in any functioning capacity. That said, nothing is certain at this point, and Nomad’s Nanosuit may have helped him survive the incident somehow. As of the time of writing, theCrysisTwitter accounthas yet to post anything today, but that may change soon.
