CD Projekt RED confirms that it has delayed theCyberpunk 2077Night City Wire event. The Night City Wire event, which had been set to take place on June 14, 2025, wasexpected to show newCyberpunk 2077gameplayand another look at Night City.
On Twitter, CD Projekt RED announced that theCyberpunk 2077Night City Wire event will now be taking place on June 24, 2025. The developer said that while it looks forward to “sharing new information” about the game, it also feels that “more important discussions are happening right now and we want them to be heard.” CD Projekt RED ended its tweet by saying that it “wholeheartedly” stands “against racism, intolerance and violence. Black Lives Matter.”

CD Projekt RED is one of several gaming companies to have changed its plans in a show of support for the Black Lives Matter movement and the protest against racial injustice and police brutality. Earlier this week, Sony also confirmed that it would bedelaying the PS5 reveal eventin an effort to “allow more important voices to be heard” but it did not announce a new date for it.
Unsurprisingly, many CD Projekt RED fans have responded to the delay announcement with disappointment. The developer has a history of announcing delays for the game such as the decision to push theCyberpunk 2077release date from 2019, to early 2020 and then to September 2020. Last week, it posteda joke about the delayed SpaceX launchin a nod to its own issue with failing to keep to dates. However, fans are seeing the delay of theCyberpunk 2077Night City Wire event as another showing that CD Projekt RED is really bad with dates.
Fans are also upset because the have not seen much from the game in a while. While CD Projekt RED has been revealingmore information aboutCyberpunk 2077gangsand corporations, it hasn’t shown them what these organizations will look like in the game. Night City Wire could have offered fans that but now they will have to wait a little longer.
For all the upset though, it’s not unexpected that CD Projekt RED has responded to current events in this way. In an interview,Cyberpunk 2020creator Mike Pondsmith, who himself is African-American, confirmed thatCyberpunk 2077would be a political game. It would be more surprising had CD Projekt RED not voiced its support for one of the biggest social issues of a generation, though many may not be happy that that means theCyberpunk 2077 event has been delayed.
Cyberpunk 2077will be available September 17th for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, and later for PS5 and Xbox Series X.
