Titanshas been a successful show, with four seasons under its belt even though the changes made to many of the characters in the show have proven controversial with some fans of the DC Comics versions of the characters. Raven is one of the characters that was a central focus in the first season of the show, and while much has changed about her character, much also remained the same.

As her father Trigon was the primary villain of the first season, and the focus of the teamcoming (back) together was around protecting Rachel, as Dick had promised to do, her origin story was explored early in the series. However, much about both that and her entire character has been shifted from the comic and animated series versions of her that fans are more familiar with.
5Her Origin
Rachel inTitanswas born to the interdimensional demon Trigon and a human woman. She goes on the run after her foster mother is killed and slowly begins to uncover more about her powers over the course of her teenage years with the Titans. This drastically changes how DC Comics have more historically introduced the character.
Originally Raven was born to Trigon and a human woman, but her birth mother was part of a cultthat worshiped the demon. Her mother then fled the cult before giving birth and went to the alternate dimension of Azaroth to let Raven grow up and learn to master her powers from there. She also learned to control her demon side here under the tutelage of wise masters, which explains her high level of control over her powers in the comics compared to the relative inexperience and steep learning curves she must go on through the early seasons ofTitans.

4Her Titans Membership
While Raven was not a part of the original Teen Titans team either in DC Comics or in theTitansshow, there is a major difference in the way she went about joining in the different incarnations of her story. Titans season 1 centeredaround this mysterious runawaywhom Dick was trying to help, but she wasn’t seeking him or the rest of the Titans for help initially.
This differs from the DC Comics version of Raven. Originally, she sought out the Justice League for help with the problem of her father, Trigon, as she saw the impending danger of his plans. When the Justice League refused her pleas for help due to her beinguntrustworthy as a part-demon, she instead reformed the Teen Titans as the New Teen Titans team and used them to bring down her demonic father and his evil plans. While Rachel inTitansmay not be quite such a leader, she did manage to bring down her father with the help of the newly reformed team.

3Her Look
Raven’s look has changed throughoutTitansand has become, like several of the other team members, more accurate over time. However, there are some major shifts from how she looks in DC Comics and how she looked in the earlier seasons ofTitans. Most notable is her jewel, which she receives laterin the series and always had in the comics.

The reason for her forehead jewel has varied over the years, notably being used to contain her father Trigon at times. However, inTitansthe gem is her heart, transformed by her father and placed on her forehead. This particularly unusual origin story for her gem garnered some mockery from fans of the show and was considered one of the least necessary changes to Raven’s story and character.
2Her Romantic Interests
Raven has had a variety of love interests in DC Comics and has been linked with various characters to different degrees. However, romance has not been in the cards so far for her inTitans, with her turbulent nature so far has made it difficult to do much more than make friends with some of her teammates.
In the comics, she’s had a relationship with Beast Boy, who she has growncloser to on the showover time, and Nightwing, who is much older than her in the show, making any reprisal of this relationship much less likely. Raven has also dated other characters like Wally West, who hasn’t shown up inTitansso far but could potentially in the future.

1Her Relationship With Trigon
Raven’s father Trigon is a demon and well-known villainin the DC Comics Universe. However, Raven’s relationship with her father differs greatly in the show from the back-and-forth relationship they have shared in the comics. In the first episode ofTitans, Raven is set against her father and wants to fight him and stop him.
In the comics, her attitude towards him has generally been negative, but there was a period of time during the New 52 run when she actually worked for her father after he manipulated her and forced her to join the Teen Titans while secretly operating under his agenda. The danger of Trigon was an ever-present one for many years and continues to trouble Raven in DC Comics, but her dealings with him inTitansseem to be over and done with as the show has moved onto other things and given Raven a new arc with the exploration of her White Raven persona.
