This morning, dead bodies with briefcases randomly started washing to shore inGTA Online. Fans have figured out that each real-time hour, a corpse will appear in different beach locations scattered aroundthe city of Los Santos.

This mysterious event may be linked to the rumors of a large update toGrand Theft Auto Online, seemingly supported by acryptic video tweeted by Rockstarthis morning that depicted quick shots of an island with the words “El Rubio Dossier” at the beginning. The video also shows one of the corpses with the placeholder name “John Doe” and a description saying “Last visual contact: Los Santos International Airport.”

Many believe that this event and the cryptic tweet point to a map expansion forGTA Onlineand a new heist. The mysterious nature of unidentified bodies washing to shore is fairly reminiscent of the real-life mystery of the Tamam Shud case, in which an unidentified man was found on an Australian beach with no clues to his identity or death, except for a briefcase found at a nearby railway station. The case remains unsolved but some believe the mystery involved espionage or a dangerous mission.

There has been clear evidence of a massive update toGTA Onlineeven before dead bodies started appearing on the shores of Los Santos. During aGorillaz music videofeaturing the band driving through Los Santo, an island can be seen in the background and Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick also revealed during an investment call thatGTA Onlinewill have the biggest update ever leading into 2021.

With the map expansion andnew heist seemingly confirmed, many fans are trying to figure out exactly what the heist could entail. Some fans have pointed out that “El Rubio” could be a single person or possibly a criminal organization and fans believe that “John Doe” was trying to escape the island, but was killed by “El Rubio” in the process.

Many fansexpressed their disappointment for theGTA Onlineannouncementinstead of Rockstar announcingGrand Theft Auto 6. Some believe that the new update toGTA Onlinewill reveal more about the story leading intoGTA 6, but fans will have to wait for the update, which does not have a release date and has yet to be officially confirmed by Rockstar. It is possible that more clues may pop up to reveal more information about the new island and heist.
