Dead Island 2’s main story quest line ends with the 24th mission calledHollywood Ending,set on the red carpets of an apocalyptic Hollywood Boulevard. It’s a story quest with a tricky door puzzle to solve and a challenging boss fight that finally leads players towards some answers about their strange Autophage abilities and how Hell-A’s zombie apocalypse started.

Hollywood Ending also sets up the possibility ofDead Island 2DLC developing its storyand some of the ways it might do this, either through DLC or a potentialDead Island 3follow-up. Players should be aware that this guide contains some spoilers relating to the ending ofDead Island 2.
Spoiler Warning!
To start Hollywood Ending, players must have completed all ofDead Island 2’s preceding story quests as the game’s final main quest. After completing The End of the Line story quest, players travel to Hollywood Boulevard viaDead Island 2’s fast travel system to find and confront Dr. Reed, where Hollywood Ending unlocks.
After an opening cutscene with Emma Jaunt, Sam B, and Patton, it’s up to players to find Dr. Reed, and players spawn behind a fence in front of the helicopter.
Hunt Down Dr. Reed
Climb the fence and head straight along the red carpet, turning left at the end of the walkway. Defeat the incoming wave of zombies, including screamers, usingDead Island 2’s Fury Modeto take them down fast.
The door on the right is locked tight, and there is seemingly no way in. However, to get inside, players only need to climb the fallen golden hand clawing onto the building like a guided zombie arm and enter through the window.

Investigate The Re-Aging Clinic
Investigating the clinic reveals the locked door at the back of the room requires a key card. Players can find there-aging clinic keycardunder the main desk. Unlock the door and head inside the adjoining office for more investigating to find theDo or Die perkto collect by the workbench, one ofDead Island 2’s weapons perks. Now is a handy time to repair any weapons, fabricate mods, and use the storage locker to store or break down any weapons not needed.
What Dark Secrets Lie Behind The Secret Door?
A quick look at the map suggests there’s a secret passage near the workbench. Although one ofDead Island 2’s sKOpeson the desk provides a clue about a door to read in the inventor menu, locating the secret door can be tricky.To reveal a secret doorway,press the switch under the deskand head inside the facility corridors.
Kill The Reubenator! (Final Boss Fight)
Follow the corridors until players reach a cutscene with Dr. Reed and Tisha, leading to the game’s final boss fight with the Reubenator. This creature is known as a Mutator, one ofDead Island 2’s hardest apex zombiesand who players will recall from a previous similar moment in the game when searching for Dr. Reed’s lab.
To defeat the Reubenator, it’s best to keep a close distance to avoid its punishing projectiles, use guns to take off chunks of its health, and block with a melee weapon to enable players to follow up with powerful melee hits while it’s vulnerable. Players can also useDead Island 2’s curveballslike meat bait to distract any zombies that appear.

Escape The Eschaton Facility
After defeating the Reubenator, it’s time to escape! Battle through the groups of incoming zombies while following the corridors and stairwells to exit the Eschaton facility, with most zombies going down quickly with reduced health.
Get To Da Chopper!
Players arrive back on the red carpet after heading back through the re-aging clinic and can freely explore the area before heading back to the helicopter mission start point while killing any incoming zombies. There’s a room hidden opposite the gate leading to the chopper and also some explorable passageways under the staging area. Finish up and head to the chopper to start the final story cut scene for Hollywood Ending.
After the credits roll, players respawn at the re-aging clinic, where a UI screen appears declaring Hell-A Is Yours! Players are rewarded Sam B’sDead Island 2legendary weaponand can use the fast-travel map on the office wall to travel to other locations across Hell-A to complete any remaining side quests, challenges, lost and found quests, or search for remaining collectibles, such as legendary and unique weapons.
Proving players have already completedDead Island 2’s like and follow quest, the final Amanda Styles side quest Going Viral also unlocks with Amanda’s phone appearing on the re-aging clinic office table or at other fast travel map location points.
