Summary

Deadpool 3cast member Emma Corrin admitted they are not exactly the biggest fan of the internationally acclaimed Marvel franchise.

Based on the eponymous merc with a mouth from the pages of Marvel Comics, 2016’sDeadpoolserved as an origin story for the humorous character, chronicling the events that led to Wade Wilson acquiring his regenerative abilities and the insanity to match. Though based on a Marvel character, the film was a spin-off of Fox’s Marvel film franchise, which meant there was plenty ofX-Men red tape for Ryan Reynolds to crosswhen he envisionedDeadpool 3joining the mainline Marvel Cinematic Universe and bringing in Hugh Jackman to reprise his retired role as Wolverine.

Despite the complications, Deadpool brought Wolverine back for one last brawl. With that headliner secured, the rest of the cast was still up in the air, and many fans were delighted whenThe Crownstar Corrin was added toDeadpool 3in a villainous role ahead of filming. While the talent is certified, Corrin lacks one trait that might surprise fans, as the star admits in an interview withEmpire. “Hands up, I’m not a Marvel person. I’ve watched Spider-Man and Black Panther,” Corrin revealed. “‘Look, you’re gonna have to debrief me into this.” The star further elaborated that they “heard about the project but, classic Marvel, they couldn’t tell me anything about it. Absolutely nothing. Zilch."

WhileDeadpoolmight be vastly different fromThe Crown, which suffered a robbery of over $200,000 worth of antique props from its season 5 set, Corrin has been able to acclimate. “It’s such an intricate world. There’s so much to it; it’s an absolute mind-fuck. All the language and the Easter eggs, and this person is related to that person who did this, and this person came back, and this person’s dead… It’s amazing.” Corrin expressed a newfound appreciation for the franchise, stating, ”I really understand why it means as much as it does to so many people. It’s a phenomenon, and I feel really lucky to be part of it. Especially Deadpool, because I love the fact that it’s self-aware and critical of its own inner workings.”

Corrin will make an excellent addition to the cast list, and many are already looking forward to their performance in concert with all the other spectacle-worthy factors converging onDeadpool 3. While it’s not yet clear which ofDeadpool’s many great potential villainous adversarieshas been cast, It’s clear that Corrin is quite happy with the role. “I feel really excited to play a villain,” Corrin says about the role. “I haven’t done that, and it’s an itch I want to scratch.” For better or worse,Deadpool 3will surely be an interesting pick for a first-time performance.

Buzz for the project is liable to stay high until the premiere, with speculation about everything from plot points towhich characters might appear inDeadpool 3. However, how likely the film is to remain on course for its current release date is up in the air, so fans might have to wait longer than planned.

Deadpool 3is scheduled to be released in theaters on Jun 22, 2025.
