Destiny 2’s Season of the Haunted is launching today, and after a long radio silence on Bungie’s part, the company has finally released the official trailer and plenty of bits of information about what’s coming with the new update.Season of the Haunted is featuring an element rework in the form of Solar 3.0, which saw a lot of explosive action in the early trailer, but Bungie didn’t elaborate on all the details about the various abilities until now.
A newDestiny 2developer commentary video surfaced very recently, and it fully describes the ideas and the goals of the Solar 3.0 update. As with Void subclasses, Bungie wanted to achieve a very specific power fantasy with the Solar 3.0 rework, and it’s all about allowing players to become ultimate fire gods of explosions and destruction. In the game, this is achieved with a new set of Aspects and Fragments that allow all classes to toy with the newly-reworked system by picking their favorite ones and making their own devastating combos.

Bungie’s commentary focuses on why Titans have to feel like the ones that can achieve the highest raw power of all classes, and the new ground-pound ability called Consecration they have with theSolar 3.0 updatespeaks for itself. The Sunbreaker’s Roaring Flames trait is also becoming an Aspect that provides two Fragment slots and allows Titans to increase their damage, whereas another Aspect is going to be Sol Invictus, which creates Sunspots and provides benefits while entering them.
Destiny 2’s Huntersalso have a lot to look forward to with Solar 3.0, as they will see a popular trait returning as the Aspect called Knock ‘Em Down, which empowers Solar Supers and refunds melee energy with Throwing Knife final blows. On Your Mark is an Aspect that provides three Fragment slots and empowers both Hunters and their Fireteam when landing precision final blows. Furthermore, Hunters will also get an ability called Gunpowder Gamble that allows them to throw a bundle of three Tripmine Grenades that can be shot mid-air to create a massive AoE explosion at any given point.
With Solar 3.0 abilities now revealed, Warlocks should be excited about Incinerating Snap, a new ability that provides great crowd control capabilities thanks to its burning effect. Incinerating Snap can hit multiple enemies at once, and it can chain-detonate to make explosions all the more impressive.Destiny 2Warlock players will also get an Aspect called Touch of Flame, which, similarly to theChaos Accelerant Aspect from Void 3.0, will grant additional effects to specific grenades.
The new update is quite enticing thus far, and it promises to deliver a lot of new tools. Furthermore,Season of the Haunted might be linked to King’s Fall, as a fan pointed out, andDestiny 2fans could find more secrets than anticipated when delving into the depths of the Leviathan’s belly.
Destiny 2is now available on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
