Summary
A fireteam ofDestiny 2players use hive swords to trigger a hilarious glitch that sends a teammate on a sparrow flying forward at incredible speeds. While not a true open world game,Destiny 2features larger zones and destinations that players can traverse using hover bikes called Sparrows. Over the years, new models have been added as both rewards and shop items, giving them new looks, different trails, as well as booster effects as well to give players a little bit of personalization.
However, players are always looking for a bit of speed and thankfully, Bungie introduced a big change in theSeason of the Wish patch notes. While the sparrow known as Always On Time was statistically the fastest in the game, Bungie made a universal change that raised the speed of every Sparrow to match, meaning that players no longer had to pick between going faster or looking good. However, it seems another group of players seems to have discovered another way to maximize Sparrow speed.

Over on theDestiny 2subReddit, a user named BendyHororPlayz posted a short clip of a fireteam of players using Hive Swords to strike an empty chest whileexploring the Mothyards in the Cosmodrome. Repeating the process over and over, one player then summons their Sparrow and sits on it nearby. Just as the Warlock player smashes the ground with the Hive sword, the sparrow player shoots off into the distance with only the trail left behind, as they then appear off in the distance behind a plane wreckage in the Cosmodrome.
Reaction to the surprising footage was met with plenty of jokes by the community. More than a few players likened theDestiny 2video to that of the Delorian from Back to the Future hitting 88 miles per hour, leaving behind a streak of flames from the tires. Others posted gifs of Dark Helmet from the movie Space Balls ordering the ship to hit “Ludicrous Speed” while another player referenced the recent patch and claim that the player managed to unlock 200 speed sparrows instead.
While funny to pull of, the sparrow glitch isn’t very practical and therefore likely won’t be fixed anytime soon, if at all. However, Bungie certainly has been active keeping the game updated with changes and balancing efforts since the season first launched. In fact, during the first week of Iron Banner, Bungie announced that it was completelyremoving the new Crucible mode Tributeand replcing it with Control. After plenty of negative feedback, Bungie decided the mode needed more time for tweaking and tuning, as the community felt that scoring and pacing didn’t feel good, which was then supported by the player data.
