Following the cancelation of theApex Legendssingle-player game, details have now emerged on what that title would have looked like. Earlier this week, EA announced a number of changes with Respawn, canceling twoApex Legendsprojects including its existing mobile game and an unannounced single-player game which was reportedly in development. Now, details of the canceled single-player game indicate how the studio was planning to connect it to theTitanfallfranchise.The announcements come after EA reported a disappointing financial outlook for its current quarter. Of course,Apex Legendsitself has been receiving mixed reactions from fans in recent times, particularly with theApex LegendsHardcore Royale modeand the studio’s decision to offer a recolored shotgun skin for $140. So it’s likely that the decision to abandon some of its projects could point to the studio looking to refocus its efforts on the main battle royale title. In the case of BT, the game’s story would have shown Rampart bringing the titan back to life. Of course, Blisk has already been featured in the battle royale’s story a few times,Titanfall Legendswould have added him as a playable character. Jeff further claims that the canceled game would have featured wall-running and that the project was inspired byDoom EternalwhereApex Legendscharacters would show up to give the player powers during gameplay.
As of now, neither Respawn nor EA has officially confirmed Jeff’s claims, though the details do fall in line with how theTitanfalllore was built, especially withApex Legends. It’s unclear how the game itself would have panned out in terms of its commercial prospects, but the revelations come as bitter news for fans of the franchise, especially those who have been longexpecting a true sequel toTitanfall2.
Of course, Respawn could still bring some of the story elements ontoApex Legendsitself. The battle royale has been increasingly tying its connections toTitanfallsince its release in 2019, particularly with characters like Valkyrie and Ash. Unfortunately for fans, it might be a while until the studio announces any of its long-term plans around the franchise. Respawn already has two other two ambitious projects in the form ofStar Wars Jedi: Survivorwhich was delayed by six weeksand aStar Warsstrategy game. So time will tell what the future holds forApex Legends.
