Survival horror is a dangerous genre at the best of times, and things only get that much harder when trying to survive with friends. Coordinating the movements of an entire team against dangerous foes, navigating in the dark to complete an objective, and keeping morale up can be difficult inDevour.

The farmhouse serves as the game’s introductory map, but that doesn’t mean that the possessed woman wandering its halls is easily defeated. Sometimes Anna can be calmed. Other times, the only hope of survival lies in the player’s ability to run or hide. Here’s everything that players need to know about calming and hiding from Anna on the farmhouse.

Anna On The Hunt

The point of calming and hiding from Anna is to stay alive long enough to complete the ritual. While the player is freeing goats, luring them with hay, and then burning them at the altar, they must avoid the predations ofAnna (the farmhouse’s boss)as well as the minions. The more goats the players manage to sacrifice, the more agitated Anna will become, increasing the threat she poses. The boss becomes faster, and the demons in her service become more numerous, making it harder to stay alive.

The best course is to have all four of the final goats brought to the altarand sacrificed one after another, as doing so means Anna won’t have a chance to hunt players in her far more dangerous, agitated state.Anna will grow horns to mark her increasing agitation, making it easy for players to tell when to stop trying to calm her and start hiding.

Calming Anna

The player can shine a UV light on demons to kill them, but the light will only stun Anna. The energy of flashlights is best used sparingly because their recharge rate is slow. If a demon confronts the player butisn’t blocking the path,it’s often better to just run away, saving the UV battery for calming Anna.

The further that players are in the ritual process, the more stuns are required to calm Anna:

Stunning Anna late in the game is more or less pointlesssince it will barely slow her down. At this stage, the better strategy is to hide.

Hiding From Anna

Fortunately, it’s far easier to hide from Anna than it is from Molly, the boss of the Asylum. The main reason is that the farmhouse loops back on itself, making it easy for players to hide from Anna once they’ve gathered the keys to the locked rooms. Some rooms are better than others for hiding in, and knowing which the best ones helps a great deal when the end of the ritual is near. In general,it’s always better to have multiple escape routesand easy access to teammates.

To hide successfully, a player shouldturn their flashlight off, stop moving, and listen for audio cues, remaining still until Anna has passed their hiding spot. Be ready to stun the boss andstart running in the event of being spotted, and there’s a decent chance the team will survive Anna’s hunt.
