While players got a brief taste ofDiablo 2: Resurrectedduring the alpha, as well as through gameplay footage, some fans may still be wanting a more in-depth look at the meticulously crafted and horrifying enemies. Now, a video has surfaced that shows off the creatures ofDiablo 2: Resurrectedin all their glory.
As it stands,Diablo 2: Resurrectedis a faithful homage to the original game. It’s a reminder of a time when games, like the originalDiablo 2,were a bit more hardcore. Essentially, and in the best way possible,Diablo 2:Resurrectedis simply the old game with a coat of new paint and a bit of polish. Oddly, this is a far cry from saying the game is unchanged, and perhaps one of the most exciting differences between the two games is seeing the old enemies' sprites being reimagined as beautifully animated 3D models.

Nobody can knock the creativity of the team behind the originalDiablo 2,but it was limited by the technology of the time in terms of bringing its imagination to life. AsDiablo 2: Resurrectedcomes around, fans finally get a more detailed look into the imagination of the developers. To that end, YouTuber PureDMG did a bit of digging into the game files and pulled out animations for many of the enemy mobsincluding super uniques like The Smith.
Perhaps most surprising is how accurate the models are to the original sprites. While The Smith takes on a new degree of terrifying when players can see every little detail including his blood-soaked apron and clawed feet, these details are all drawn fromDiablo 2. If players look closely enough during their fight with The Smith, they’ll notice that the original sprite is indeed covered in blood as well. The video also includes a quick peek attwo of the most difficultDiablo 2bosses,the spider-like demon Andariel and her brother, Duriel. The video sadly also includes close-up footage of a zombified Griswold.
While eager fans may be tempted enough to take a chance with acracked version of theDiablo 2: Resurrectedalpha,PureDMG’s video stands as a reminder of the effort that was put into the remaster. Ultimately, patience will be rewarded with a much more thoroughly complete game as well as being able to share the experience with the rest of theDiablo 2community come launch. Until then, fans will have to be satisfied with sneak peeks like this, if and when they come.
