Blizzard releases patch 1.0.3 forDiablo 4, providing a range of buffs for all five classes in response to player feedback. Blizzard hopes these changes will help make all class builds feel powerful without significantly altering the relationships betweenDiablo 4’s Skills.

Blizzard releasedDiablo 4on June 6 to mostly positive reviews. Some critics praised the game’s storytelling, combat, and world design, feeling like it was a significant evolution of the series. However, the game hasn’t escaped harsher criticisms, with some reviewers and fans feeling disappointed inDiablo 4’s procedurally generated dungeons. Some fans also have misgivings about the new game’s live-service model, though it so far hasn’t been quite as controversial as theDiablo: Immortalmobile game.

Another source of criticism is that many players felt likeDiablo 4’s Basic Skills weren’t impactful enough. Blizzard seems to have taken this feedback to heart, with the rebalances included inDiablo 4’s patch 1.0.3making each class’s Basic Skills more powerful. However, developers clarified that these changes would not fundamentally alter the relationship between Basic Skills and Core Skills. The update hasn’t forgotten the Core Skills either, with each of them also receiving a significant buff.

All five ofDiablo 4’s classeswill see their abilities doing more damage from now on. Significant increases include the base damage for the Barbarian’s Bounding Slam, which went from 75% to 112%. The Druid’s Hurricane and Lacerate increased from 97.5% to 134% and 97.5% to 134%, while the Necromancer’s Bone Spikes went from 80% to 120%. The Rogue’s Volley ability sees its base damage go up from 70% to 105%, while Heartseeker’s primary damage goes up from 30% to 75%, in addition to a more minor increase to the ability’s base damage. Finally, the Sorcerer sees their Lightning Spear’s maximum damage increase from 100% to 160%.

Those are just a few major examples, as all ofDiablo 4’s offensive Skills had their damage increased in patch 1.0.3. The new update also improves defensive buffs, reduces cooldowns, and increases duration and success chance for Skills that have them. These changes apply to the Legendary Aspects thatDiablo 4playerscan apply to their gear. Finally, Skills that generate class-specific resources like Fury and Spirit now produce more of that resource.

This is only a brief overview of how patch 1.0.3 improveseach ofDiablo 4’s classes, as the changes are too numerous to describe them all in detail. Hopefully, these changes toDiablo 4’s Skills, in addition to the other fixes and adjustments in update 1.0.3, are enough to address many players' concerns.

Balance Changes

Developer’s Note:We’re continuing our efforts to make all Class builds feel fun and powerful with another round of balance updates. In particular, we have seen community feedback stating that Basic Skills aren’t impactful enough in combat. These changes will not change the fundamental relationship between Basic Skills and Core Skills, but we hope that they help smooth out the leveling experience while we explore additional ways to strengthen them. We are also increasing the power of some Skills that players feel are lagging behind their peers. As we look forward to future updates, we’re monitoring other heavily discussed topics, such as Minion survivability and build parity. Please keep sending us your feedback, and we’ll see you in Sanctuary!
