Following months of rumor and speculation, Sony has finally confirmed when fans will get their first look atPlayStation 5games, and it’s happening very soon. Sony will be hosting a special PS5 presentation on Thursday, June 4 at 1:00pm PT, where it promises to showcase the “Future of Gaming” by showing off PS5 launch titles as well as PS5 games that will be available within the console’s launch window. Sony made this announcement with a short video, and some fans think that the video may contain the PS5 startup sound.
In Sony’s PS5 - The Future of Gaming video, a noise can be heard that is quite possibly thePS5 startupsound. The noise in question sounds similar to the PS4 startup sound, and it wouldn’t sound out of place at all when booting up the console. Of course, it’s possible that the sound in the Future of Gaming video is just for that video and won’t be the PS5 startup sound, so fans should keep that in mind.

The video doesn’t offer any other clues about the PS5, unfortunately. All it does is confirm thePS5 game reveal date of June 4while also showing off visuals of the PS5 DualSense controller. So while the video may very well contain the PS5 startup sound, it’s unlikely that it’s representative of the PS5 startup animation.
It’s hard to say when Sony will officially reveal the PS5 startup sound and animation, as the company has been generally secretive when it comes to certain details regarding its next-generation console. While it’s detailed thePS5 specsand revealed theDualSense controller, Sony has yet to reveal what the actual PS5 console looks like. And with the June 4 presentation focusing on games, it seems unlikely that the PS5 console will be revealed then as well. This in stark contrast to Microsoft’s strategy, which saw the Xbox Series X unveiled late last year.
Just as Microsoft has beaten Sony to the punch when it comes to revealing its next-generation console, the company was also first when it comes to revealing its new startup sound. Earlier this month, Microsoft released theXbox Series X startup sound and animation, showing fans what they can expect to hear and see when they boot up their console.
PlayStation 5 will be available this holiday season.
