Digimon Survive’s “Release Date Trailer” released Wednesday morning re-introduces fans to the cast ofSurvivewithTakuma Momozuka and his companionstrapped in a mysterious world. The game’s storytelling aspects will play out like a visual novel with elements of adventure games mixed in, tasking players with moving between different locations and finding clues to the mysteries surrounding the world. Digimon battles will take the form of turn-based strategy with players commanding a squad of Digimon, operating similar to games likeFire EmblemandFinal Fantasy Tactics.
The newestDigimon Survivetrailer also confirms therelease date announced during a producer update videoin April.Digimon Surviveis set to launch near the end of next month on July 29th for most modern platforms. The conclusion of the trailer also reveals a launch bonus players can pick up for a short time after the game’s release, giving players a free Guilmon and HP Support equipment.Survive’s launch will come almost exactly four years after the game was initially announced in July 2018.
Digimon Survive’s long-awaited release will come as the first major game from theDigimonfranchise in a few years. The franchise’s last major game,Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth - Hacker’s Memory, first released in 2017 in Japan and 2018 worldwide with Switch and PC versions coming later in 2019. Meanwhile, thefan-favoriteDigimon Worldfranchisehas been dormant for half a decade withDigimon World Next Order International Versionreleasing in early 2017.Digimon Survivewill be a welcomed return to the classic franchise that looks to bring a fresh new take onDigimon.
