Since the announcement of theToy Storyupdate forDisney Dreamlight Valleyat this year’s Disney and Marvel Games showcase, fans have eagerly been waiting for a release date, which was expected to be in late fall this year. The upcoming update will allow players to explore a new realm based solely onPixar’sToy Storyfranchiseand unlock new characters and other content.

This marks the second major update forDisney Dreamlight Valleysince its late August release this year. The first major update for the game featured Scar, the main antagonist fromThe Lion King, and his underground mine realm along with Halloween-themed content. The narrative was expanded as well with players gaining more details about why the valley fell to ruin.

Disney Dreamlight Valley’snewToy Storyrealm update is expected to become available for download on December 6. In other good news, the update will release across all platforms at the same time and will be completely free to download for all players. Though the game isstill in the early access stage, the recent updates are sure to make it a more solid gaming experience once it becomes free-to-play next year. The addition of aToy Storycontent update in the game’s overarching story is no exception in adding to this experience.

Luckily, Gameloft released a trailer showcasing what players can expect from the new realm. The newDisney Dreamlight Valleystorylinewill take place in Bonnie’s room, where players will become toy-sized and aid Buzz Lightyear and Woody on a mission to complete three quests across the realm. Completing these quests unlocks Woody and Buzz’s move-in into the player’s realm. Other related content found in the second major update includesToy Story-themed outfits players can use to customize their characters.

The game has been compared toAnimal Crossing: New Horizonsfor its gameplay elements and cozy feel. It’s been received well by fans so far but hasn’t escaped some criticism. A lot of early access players initially took issue with how similar the game is toAnimal Crossingand didn’t see it as anything more than a cynical ripoff from Disney. However, mostDisney Dreamlight Valleyplayerssaw the game as a way to fill in the gap of contentAnimal Crossing: New Horizonslacks.

Others who’ve progressed through the game have experienced game crashes in dialogue scenes as well as some progression issues thanks to glitches in pathfinding between NPCs. Hopefully, theseDisney Dreamlight Valleyissueswill be fully resolved, and the updates will give the game a life of its own and set it apart from other similar franchises. Either way, the game is shaping up to potentially become a successful gaming endeavor on Disney’s part.
