Dying Light 2appears to be joining forces withThe Walking Deadfranchise to bolster its roster of content with a new crossover event. The global popularity ofThe Walking Deadmeans that it’s still highly relevant for all fans of zombie media, and though little is known about the crossover at this time, the revealed promotional image suggests some very interesting things.
Crossovers are, surprisingly enough, a particularly notable aspect ofDying Light 2’s post-launch support. Specifically, the recentDying Light 2andCall of Juarezcrossoveroffered players a chance to engage with a unique timed event to earn Wild West cosmetics and weapons, and something similar may be cooking once again now that a new crossover has been announced.

The officialDying Light 2Twitter account posted about a “thrilling crossover event” withThe Walking Deadcoming up. The announcement features a piece of custom artwork inspired by the classic works of Alan Moore, depictingDying Light 2character Vincenzo as he stands over the grave of his late father, Alberto. This could very well mean anything within the context of the game, of course, but the fact that the promo has gone out of its way to make it clear it’s been inspired by Moore and Kirkman’s popular comic book implies that the crossover could take its cues from the comic book, specifically, rather than the TV show.
Though it wasn’t necessarily the case early on,Dying Light 2’s recent content updateshave been pulling out all the stops, and the two known crossover events are just the tip of the iceberg. Developer Techland has been working on comprehensive upgrades to just about all of the game’s core mechanics, including parkour and combat gameplay. One of the latest updates allowed the infamous Volatile infected to roam the streets during nighttime, making the experience even more immersive and oppressive.
TheDying Light 2Gut Feeling update, in particular, delivered a huge array of physicality changes that greatly improved how it feels to interact with its game world. These big revamp updates have perhaps helped set the stage for the more content-focused updates, such as the upcomingWalking Deadcrossover, which may or may not end up being a timed event like theCall of Juarezcrossover.
In fact, it is possible that the upcomingWalking Deadevent may offer some integration withDying Light’s Pilgrim Outpost service. Techland has been investing heavily in this feature as of late, allowing players of both of the mainlineDying Lighttitles to access unique cosmetics and more. Pilgrim Outpost has grown to include special community-spanning quests as well, and it is likely that the service will play an even greater role in the franchise’s growth moving forward.
Dying Light 2is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
