PlayStation’s modern lineup of consoles has been quite successful and impactful in its own right. Sony has several coveted exclusives under its sleeve that are always a huge draw, and that’s not even mentioning the sheer number of third-party titles on these platforms as well. The PS5 might be their latest console right now, but the PS4 is still being supported with its fair share of games too.

There are games from various genres on these two consoles, making these platforms pretty versatile in their own right. Some of these games don’t have huge barriers to entry and are pretty fun to play through in their own right… that is, until players reach the end of these titles andhave to fight a boss that is incredibly challengingand doesn’t let up at any step of the way. The following titles are great examples of this.
5The Clone And Maya Brooks (Mass Effect 3)
Mass Effect 3caps off a wonderful trilogy, even if the ending might be pretty divisive for many fans. However, the steady stream of updates along with various DLCs and content packs have somewhat mitigated the blow of this ending, with one great mention here beingThe CitadelDLC. It’s a great side story that has a final boss of its own, which is basically a clone of Commander Shepard himself!
This boss fight can be extremely challenging if players don’t strategize properly and maintain their distance. To make matters worse, Maya Brooks and some CAT6 troops also accompany this dual boss and makes them even more challenging to handle. The Clone can be especially grating, replicating the same powers as the player-controlled Commander Shepard and staging an epic if somewhat tough showdown for the ages.
4Malus (Shadow Of The Colossus)
Shadow of the Colossusis one of the most beautiful games of all time, and fans were glad that its PS4 remaster ended up upscaling the quality of this title to a whole new level. The game only hassixteen enemies that the player needs to hunt down and defeat, with each victory feeling more and more hollow as players slowly realize exactly what is happening. The final colossus is a great example of a tragic and climactic boss fight that can take quite some time to get right.

Scaling the boss itself is a herculean task that takes a lot of time and effort. A single misstep can send Wander hurtling downwards and having to do a major chunk of the climbing once again. It doesn’t help that some jumps during this section can be pretty hard to nail, further adding to the frustration in a game where the platforming was never this hard!
Compared toThe New Colossus,The New Orderis pretty much a walk in the park. Sure, there are times when BJ might get peppered with bullets faster than players can react, but these instances are few and far between. For the most part, combat encounters can be dealt with easily, especially if the player is going full akimbo with shotguns and gunning down almost everything in their path.
However, this reckless abandonment needs to be replaced with a ton of care when fighting the game’s final boss, Deathshead. He’s extremely aggressive and will gun down the player whenever he finds an opportune moment, and it doesn’t help that players have to take down some zeppelins before they can even get their hands on this boss!
2Sans (Undertale)
Undertaleis a game that needs no introduction, with this indie darling being considered by many to be one of the greatest video games for the strengths it shows in its writing and the amazing charm of the world that oozes out of every pore.Undertaleis a great experiencethat any fan of unique video games shouldn’t miss out on, especially if they want to witness the incredible chaos that occurs during the game’s infamous Genocide Route.

Sans wastes no time in letting players know that he’s not messing about, starting out with a surprise barrage of attacks that can be extremely painful to deal with if the player isn’t prepared. This is followed up by a chain of powerful attacks that the player must survive before Sans eventually gets tired and dozes off, forcing the player to mess around with the menu and finally land an attack to kill off this powerful boss and reach the twisted ending of this path.
1Ender Dragon (Minecraft)
Minecraftseems like a game that has no end, but there’s actually a way for players to check out the end credits after completing a certain task. However, given how peaceful Minecraft can seem at times, players might be surprised to know that reaching this ‘ending’ requires the player to fight againstone of the toughest foes in the entire game, the Ender Dragon.
The Ender Dragon is no joke, and players need to have the best diamond equipment handy if they even want to stand a chance against this powerful foe. The sheer level of preparation required to even access this boss coupled with the challenge of the boss itself makes it a stressful affair, which is quite different from the usually calm vibe ofMinecraftthat made it such a smash hit.
