A Reddit user named LordTexugo shares a montage of their kills. They use theMimic’s Veil item to disguise themselves as an objectand wait for the host to climb a nearby ladder. As soon the host starts climbing, LordTexugo hits them from below, defeating them in one attack. LordTexugo disguises themselves as a statue in the first clip but switches to a candle for the rest of the video. The invader waves at their opponents after each kill, teasing them for not seeing through their disguise.
Due to the narrow playable area and linear design,Elden RingCatacombsare perfect for users to try out this strategy. LordTexugo chose the Stormfoot Catacombs for the purpose of this video, although it looks like this tactic is viable next to any ladder. Additionally, LordTexugo uses a weapon skill called Giant Hunt to strike upwards with such force. This skill seems key for the tactic to work effectively, and players can acquire it after defeating the Night’s Cavalry boss in north Liurnia.
The Mimic’s Veil is a popular item forElden RingPvP, and players can find it in a chest inside Stormveil Castle. It should be noted that invaders see a compass marker for the host until they get close to the target, but hosts don’t have the same functionality to get a general idea about the invader’s location.

A few players also share their surprise at the host not noticing an Imp Statue randomly placed next to a ladder in the first clip.
