Despite the difficulty of the battle, some FromSoftware fans challenged themselves to beat Malenia under harder circumstances, such as putting a restriction upon themselves. As an example, some users foughtMalenia at level 1 inElden Ring, while others beat her without ever rolling. Now, another gamer has managed to defeat Malenia using only the parry mechanic, and they did so without taking any damage.

A Reddit user named martin779 has shared a video of their fight againstMalenia inElden Ring, showing how they beat the boss with these rules in place. As seen at the beginning of the video, the player has incredibly low health, making it so that they are one hit away from dying. Additionally, they have not equipped any Flasks of Crimson Tears, so they cannot heal in the middle of the battle. Martin779 carefully avoids all of her attacks, while parrying Malenia whenever possible, and it takes them around two minutes to get to the second phase of the fight.
Malenia’s second phase looks to be a bit more challenging, but martin779 keeps chipping away at her health with the parry mechanic, ultimately achieving their goal in impressive fashion. The player has also shared some suggestions and other thoughts on the tactic, confirming that her overhead slash requires strict timing to parry properly, andthe deadly Waterfowl Dance attackcannot be parried under any circumstances.
Many users in the comments section appear highly impressed by martin779’s skills, with one comparing this video to thegameplay ofSekiro: Shadows Die Twice. It looks like some players are also trying to beat Malenia using only the parry mechanic, as one user claims that it took them four days to defeat her with just parries while taking damage.
A fewElden Ringfans also comment on how martin779 used regular attacks on Malenia before the second phrase transition. However, the player states that Malenia cannot enter her second phase with parry damage, so users need to attack her to move to the next stage of the battle.
