Eternalsstar Angeline Jolie is officially set to direct a new movie titledWithout Bloodstarring Salma Hayek. The Oscar Award-winning actress made her directorial debut back in 2011 with the release of the filmIn the Land of Blood and Honey.In the Land of Blood and Honeywas a romantic war movie, with Goran Kostic and Zana Marjanovic featured as the main leads. From that point on, Jolie has only continued to further grow and expand her directorial credentials.
She went on to direct three major pictures, includingUnbrokenandFirst They Killed My Father. Jolie drew even further attention with her 2015 romance filmBy the Sea, in which she not only directed but starred opposite herformer husband Brad Pitt. However, since the release ofBy the Sea, Jolie has taken a substantial back seat from the director’s chair. Jolie has had her mind and energy quite transfixed somewhere else - joining the MCU. Her dreams transformed into reality when she debuted as Thena in MCU’sEternalslast year, where she starred opposite Hayek, who portrayed Ajak.

Yet, it seems as though Jolie has had a newfound passion and desire to get back into directing. In March 2022, it was announced that Jolie had signed a three-year contract with Fremantle and was going to be directing the film,Without Blood.Without Bloodis based on the best-selling Italian novel by Alessandro Baricco. Not only will Jolie be tasked with the challenge of getting in the swing of things again, but she will also have to cope with the pressure that comes with taking on an adaptation. Now, it has recently been reported that Hayek is set to star in Jolie’s upcoming film alongside Demian Bichir.
Although the roles have yet to be revealed thus far,Without Bloodwill reunite Jolie andHayek since their work inEternals. With that powerhouse of a combination, it will be interesting to see how the two adjust from sharing the screen to now Jolie being at the helm of the project and directing Hayek instead. Jolie isn’t just directingWithout Blood, but she also serves as writer and producer for the highly anticipated film.
Not much has been shared with fans as to how the film adaptation will differ from the original novel. However, the source material followed the main character, Nina, as she struggles to recover from a horrifying, unknown conflict. The plot for the novel sounds as ominously vague as the lack of news surrounding whatWithout Bloodwill exactly be about. Yet, withEternalsstars Jolie and Hayek joining forcesonce more, it’s unlikely the film will disappoint. Filming is currently underway forWithout Bloodacross Rome and Southern Italy.
