Rare is known for putting out genre-defining and ambitious titles over the years, particularly for its hot streak of heavy-hitters during the N64 era withgames likeBanjo KazooieandGoldenye 007.

Rare’s latest adventureSea of Thieveshad a lackluster launch but has become a lot better over the years with a constant stream of updates. However, its upcoming project,Everwild, looks to be a very different beast yet gives out vibes similar to Ubisoft’s latest IPImmortals Fenyx Rising.

Immortals Fenyx Rising And Everwild May Have a Lot In Common

While much isn’t known aboutEverwild, the game’s spectacular showcase has many fans drooling and speculating about what the game would turn out to be. The developer is still actively working on the game, and as a result, it is indeed possible that the game could turn out to be a lot different than what’s been speculated. Even then, it’s possible that any speculation or comparison could be off-base, but Everwild and Immortals Fenyx Rising have one big commonality that’s not likely to change: similar art styles.

This is the key reason for giving out theImmortals Fenyx Risingvibes. Both these games seem to have a semi-cartoony art style with an abundance of mythic creatures that serve to bolster this sense of relation. WhileImmortalsmay be based on Greek mythology and defeating creatures, seemingly in contrast toEverwild, it’s hard to deny the art style evokes the same wonder.

There Are Some Differences

While nothing can be said definitely, many fans believe that there is a high chance of the game beinglike Rare’s previous project, Sea of Thieves. Fans are speculating that the game would be multiplayer-centric with a limited server size, and focused on co-operation and working as a team. If true, this could serve as a major departure fromImmortals Fenyx Rising, which is a single-player game.

As described by a Rare official,Everwildis “focused on building an experience that allows for new ways to play in a natural and magical world.” While much can’t be speculated about the magical part, the natural world could very well be a way to describe a systemic world, wherein all the elements are allowed to interact with each other in an effort to create a bunch of interesting scenarios and stories. If this turns out to be true, which is somewhat likely, it would make it a lot likeZelda: Breath of the Wildrather thanImmortals Fenyx Rising,at least in this department.

Again, the game is still largely shrouded in mystery, and since it is famously touted that “it will be the game it wants to be,” it makes everything even more difficult to guess anything right now.Everwild’s release date isn’t known, but it is expected that fans will get some new information about the game likely sometime this year.

Everwildis currently in development for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
