For some time now, survival fans have been hoping to hear official word about a possibleResident Evil 4remake, which so far has yet to happen. Given thatRE4is consistently ranked as the best game in the series, it’s hardly surprising that gamers are keen to see this third-person horror entry be reimagined for modern audiences. People are continuing to scour anything related to the franchise that could possibly hint at this so-far theoretical remake, and one fan believes they’ve found yet another one hidden almost in plain sight.

Posting a screen capture, as well as the full video from the PlayStation Showcase which was broadcast last week, Reddit user CoronaBeer51 shows that within less than two minutes of the Showcase beginning, a symbol appears which likely hints at something to do withResident Evil 4. The obvious hope in this case is that the video was subtly trying to say that perhaps a remake will be getting announced at some point. That’s certainly what the fan base is hoping for, at least.

In the PlayStation Showcase video, at around the 1:46 mark, as the military are shown entering a palatial building, a symbol can be seen to the right of the main doorway. While it’s only on-screen for a second, it’s been identified as the symbol for Las Plagas, meaning “the plague.” For those who are not aware,Las Plagas refers to the parasites that infect the villagers inResident Evil 4. Although the symbol in the video is never referred to, nor is it the focus of the scene, only existing briefly as part of the foreground, the fact that it’s there at all is making fans believe something to do with this game may be happening.

With official sources even hinting at anRE4remake, it can be difficult for some in the community to not think that it’s actually happening. There is still nothing that has been set in stone yet, but it seems as though Capcom cannot keep ignoring what the fans want, especially if hints are going to be cropping up in videos.

At 16-years-old now, it’s a game that is fondly remembered as something of a landmark in the series. Even this year’sVillagedropping in references toResident Evil 4, such as reintroducing the typewriter save feature, which stopped being used in the franchise between game five and the latest installment. Either way, many will be hoping the Plagas symbol does actually mean something, and isn’t just some empty tease or coincidence.
