Ubisoft is one of the most well-known developers/publishers in the modern gaming industry. Creator of fan-favoritefranchises such asAssassin’s Creed,Splinter Cell,Ghost Recon, andFar Cry. Despite the publisher’s continued push to pump out as many games as possible, fans are always eager to see what the giant plans on doing next.
There’s a whole host of speculation and theories about the Ubisoft Foward event, which is scheduled to go live during E3 2021. It’s most likely that the publisher has quite a lot to show, but it seems thatFar Cry 6might be the event’s crown jewel.

Far Cry 6’s History
Far Cry 6was revealed during last July’s Ubisoft Foward event. Reveal might be a strong word here sinceFar Cry 6already leakedahead of the conference in true Ubisoft fashion. Despite the relatively short teaser,Far Cry 6turned out to be the highlight of the conference for many fans, despite showing detailed gameplay for titles such asWatch Dogs Legion,Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, and a then-newly announcedHyper Scape.
This isn’t anything unusual, asFar Cryis probably the studio’s dearest darling short ofAssassin’s Creed.Far Cry 6was originally scheduled to launch in February of this year but had to be delayed due to problems stemming fromCOVID-19’s impact on development. This clearly shows that Ubisoft wantsFar Cry 6done right, which shows a reinvigorated interest by Ubisoft to ensure its games hit a certain level of quality.

Ubisoft At E3 2021
While Ubisoft’s E3 2021 lineup isn’t confirmed, it seems that games such asPrince of Persia: The Sands of TimeRemake,Rainbow Six: Parasite, andRiders Republicmight be the likeliest contenders. Of course, Ubisoft’s annualized franchises such as the likes ofJust Dancewill most likely grace the stage as well. While many fans are waiting out on big-name releases such asSkull and BonesandBeyond Good and Evil 2to be in the lineup, reports of extended development and an elongated period of silence on Ubisoft’s part seem to suggest otherwise.
In addition to this,Assassin’s Creedwould most likely be absent from the eventas rumors indicate the next game to come out in 2022. This leaves Ubisoft withFar Cry 6as the only heavy-hitter, and with a speculated release window of this year, there’s little doubt that the game would be the giant’s big E3 play. With a reveal trailer already done and dusted, a gameplay reveal and a new release date would probably be the focal point ofFar Cry 6’s showings this E3.
Again, this is by no means definitive. Ubisoft games have a complex development structure, with multiple studios working on a single title at a time. The pandemic’s effect on such games can’t be understated, and there’s some chance that the game might be absent from this year’s E3, a speculation which is bolstered byFar Cry 6’s game design director’s comments regarding the game. Hopefully, fans of this long-running franchise get to learn more about this highly-anticipated entry in the series.
Far Cry 6is in development for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
