Ubisoft is expanding on the lore ofFar Cry 6withFar Cry: Rise of the Revolution, a new limited audio series which saw it reunite withBreaking Badstar Giancarlo Esposito. This unique example of content marketing arrives shortly afterFar Cry 6was treated to another free weekendencouraging anyone who hasn’t already picked up the game to do so during Ubisoft’s Valentine’s Day festivities.

Released in late 2021, the latest installment in theFar Cryfranchise went all out on production values, as evidenced by its developer’s decision to hire Esposito, who gave another memorable villain performance as Anton Castillo, the main antagonist of the hit open-world FPS. The role earned him two game acting award nominations and even led to a sort of ambassador role forFar Cry 6, culminating withEsposito presenting at The Game Awards 2021.

Some 15 months later, the famous American actor has reunited with Ubisoft forFar Cry: Rise of the Revolution, a five-episode audio series penned by Mexican screenwriter Alexandro Aldrete which delves into Castillo’s backstory and expands on the fictional Caribbean state of Yara, arguably one of themost memorableFar Crysettingsin the history of the franchise. With a runtime of over four and a half hours,Rise of the Revolutionmanages to cover several decades' worth of dramatic events that molded Castillo into the memorable antagonist featured throughoutFar Cry 6.

According to Ubisoft’s media business development director, Julien Fabre, the drama was developed alongsideFar Cry 6as the series' first prequel story starring some of the original cast members. Speaking of which, Esposito is not the only actor who reprised hisFar Cry 6role forRise of the Revolution. Jess Salgueiro also returned as guerilla leader Clara, while Anthony Gonzalez and Alex Fernandez once again voiced Castillo’s son Diego and guerilla weaponsmith Juan Cortez, respectively. The fictional podcast series was produced by Audible and is now available exclusively through Amazon’s service.

Far Cry: Rise of the Revolutionis the third audio drama Ubisoft created in partnership with Audible, afterAssassin’s Creed Goldin 2019 andThe Division: Hearts on Firein 2021. In between those high-effort content marketing projects and this new fictional podcast based onFar Cry 6, the company also releasedaSplinter Cellradio show produced by BBC.
