The musou-styleFire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopesis not without little references and easter eggs sprinkled throughout each route. Like most easter eggs, they won’t exactly help players during their quest. Given this takes place in an alternate timeline, it’s only natural there would be references to the predecessor,Three Houses. Most of these can be found in Supports or by speaking to people around the camp during each new chapter.

Unfortunately for newcomers to Fodlan, gamers diving intoFire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopesare expected to have playedFire Emblem: Three Houses. There are many references to the previous game, and some lore is not elaborated upon, making certain concepts a bit confusing to newcomers. Shez can find documents about the camp that will explain Fodlan’s worldbuilding and the Crest system, but unless players are going to sit down to read 11-pages worth of storytelling, it’s easy to not understand what’s going on at some points. Below are several easter eggs and references thatThree Housesfans might have missed inThree Hopes.

6Dimitri & Raphael’s Support

At some point during the Azure Gleam route, players can speak to an NPC near the marketplace. Talking to her doesn’t have any benefits, but she mentions someone lifting a wagon without any help. While this could be pointless babble to some, this appears to be a slight reference to Dimitri and Raphael’s C Support inThree Houses. In the Support, Raphael mentions that he overheard some people talking about how Dimitri “lifted a whole wagon on his own.” This pushes Raphael to ask Dimitri if he has a special training regime.

In truth, Dimitri’s incredible strength is in part thanks to his Minor Crest of Blaiddyd. The B Support for Raphael and Dimitri doesn’t mention the wagon, but it does show Raphael utterly burned out from overexerting himself in trying to imitate Dimitri’s exercises. Fortunately,Raphael seems to recover by the end of their Support.

5An Iconic Line

It should go without saying that Ike, the protagonist and deuteragonist ofFire Emblem: Path of RadianceandFire Emblem: Radiant Dawnrespectively, is known for hisSmash Bros. victory line…at least to non-Fire Emblemfans. While there’s more to Ike than the “I fight for my friends” line, that isn’t the point of this possible easter egg/reference. Shez hasthe option of reciting Ike’s victory linein his C Support with Catherine when she asks him who/what serves as their motivation for fighting.

Depending on what part of the story players unlock the C Support, “I want to defeat the Ashen Demon” will appear as a third option. Choosing “I fight for my friends” will surprise Catherine, and she’ll say that wasn’t the answer she was expecting from him. Given Shez’s main motivation for working with the Empire/Kingdom/Alliance is money, this could also be considered a bit of character development.

4Sitri’s Flowers

In Byleth and Jeralt’s A Support, Byleth will give their father a set of flowers as thanks for being there for them. Since their C Support had Jeralt drawing similarities between their child and Sitri, his wife, most fans may have seen this coming for the A Support. These are the same flowers Jeralt gave to her in the CG cut of Cindered Shadows. Unfortunately, despite being name-dropped in the Support, Sitri does not make an appearance inThree Hopes.

This could be less of an easter egg and more of an intended reference toThree Houses. However, anyone unfamiliar withThree Housesor even Cindered Shadows DLCmay not draw this conclusion. The Support has Jeralt asking why Byleth chose these flowers specifically. If nothing more, this is just another similarity Byleth shares with their mother.

3What Could Have Been

Continuing from Jeralt and Byleth’s A Support, Jeralt casually mentions how different things could have been if Byleth was enrolled at the Officer’s Academy. Ironically, he claims that Byleth isn’t cut out for teaching, whichThree Housesseems to say otherwise. The easter egg itself doesn’t seem to appear until after Byleth’s been recruited in Chapter 10 of Scarlet Blaze.

If players visit the Tactics Facility, they can find Byleth standing next to the blackboard and behind the desk. It’s possible this is to reference Byleth’s professor role inThree Houses. Oddly enough, they can’t be found at the Tactics Facility’s desk in Azure Gleam and Golden Wildfire. Of course, not recruiting Byleth means this won’t occurat the camp.

2Gifts At The Marketplace

Visiting certain students' rooms inThree Houseswould show an Armored Bear Stuffy sitting in a chair or on a desk. The armored bear stuffy is a giftthat players can give to units to increase their morale. Giving this gift to Edelgard, Bernadetta, or Lysithea will double their Support Points. InThree Hopes, players can find not just the stuffy, but several other gifts around the camp.

There’s the Landscape Portrait (preferred by characters like Ignatz) and behind the Item Shopkeeper is a Goddess Statuette and Riding Boots. Despite making cameos around the base camp, most of these gifts will be unavailable for purchase until players have upgraded the Item Shopkeeper Facility.

1Byleth’s Tactics Primer

Giving Byleth the Merc Whistle will allow Shez to use Byleth’s Unique Ability: Divine Pulse. This allows Shez to stop time and deal as much damage as possible to the enemy before the timer wears off. It’s a useful Ability that can be easily missed if players fail to recruit Byleth, or if they give the Merc Whistle to someone else. However, the easter egg/reference here is the Tactics Primer. InThree Houses, Jeralt will need Byleth to run to his office to pick up a key item for him. This is the Tactics Primer, which needs to be shown to Jeralt in order tostart usingThree Houses' Battalions feature.

Other references toThree Housesthrough Merc Whistle gifts are the Azure Dagger and Imperial Coat of Arms Pen. Dimitri seems to have a habit of giving daggers to friends, thanks to an old tradition in Faerghus. Edelgard’s gift, while not as useful in combat, could be a reference to the Time-worn Quill Pen, one of Edelgard’s Lost Items inThree Houses.
