Fortnite’s v23.00 update went live on Tuesday, January 10, and it made several changes to the battle royale experience. One of those changes is that it became possible to obtain a Burst Assault Rifle, a weapon that has come and gone several times since its debut in 2017, in Battle Royale. For those players that would like to get their hands on the Burst Assault Rifle inFortniteChapter 4 Season 1, this guide contains details on the various sources from which this unvaulted weapon can be obtained.
Fortnite: Burst Assault Rifle Location
Players that are on the hunt for a Burst Assault Rifle in Chapter 4 Season 1 have many avenues that they can pursue, as the weapon can appear inChests, Rare Chests, Supply Drops, and as floor loot. Additionally, Burst Assault Rifles can be obtained throughfishing, with fishing holes acting as sources for the Rare, Epic, and Legendary rarities of the weapon. Fans should not look for the Burst Assault Rifle inFortnite’s Oathbound Chests, though, as the weapon does not seem to come from those containers.

Since the Burst Assault Rifle can be obtained from so many different sources, players are likely to encounter the weapon through standard gameplay. That said,Fortnitefanscan be a bit more targeted with their searches by focusing on locations that have a high-density of Chests and floor loot. Brutal Bastion, Faulty Splits, and Shattered Slabs are locations that match that description, and they have all been marked on the following map.
With respect to the functionality of the Burst Assault Rifle, it fires in two-round bursts, has a 1.5x headshot multiplier, and does not have a scope. While this weapon can be quite potent at mid-range, players may find it to be a bit underwhelming when compared to alternatives like the Red-Eye Assault Rifle. Indeed, it remains to be seen if the Burst Assault Rifle can find a home within the establishedmeta ofFortniteChapter 4 Season 1.
As previously mentioned, the addition of the Burst Assault Rifle was just one component of the v23.00 update. Indeed, the update marked the return ofFortnite’s Shockwave Hammer, which was disabled very-temporarily to address a bug that players could exploit in order to bounce infinitely. Hurdling, which was disabled on August 01, 2025, was also reactivated by this small update, allowing players to once again maneuver over low obstacles very quickly.
