UPDATE 11/10: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 gamesharing works now that its official release date has arrived.
Original story follows.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3gamesharing is not working at the time of this writing.Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3’s official release dateisn’t until November 10. However, those that have pre-orderedModern Warfare 3are able to jump into the single-player campaign right now.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3campaign early accessis one of the main reasons why one would pre-order the new game. This way, gamers have a week to play through the campaign missions before jumping into multiplayer and Zombies when the full release comes on November 10.Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3’s campaign missions have rewards for players to use in multiplayer, so even those that usually skip the campaign may want to conside pre-ordering and playing through it.

That may be trickier for some gamers. Unfortunately,Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3gamesharing doesn’t seem to work on PS5 or Xbox. Users all across social media have complained that they can not currently gameshareModern Warfare 3. Gamesharing, for the uninitiated, is a feature available on PlayStation and Xbox consoles that allows users to share their digital copies of games with one other person. It’s extremely useful for families to play games together without having to buy multiple copies.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Gamesharing Not Working
One doesn’t have to look far to see complaints aboutModern Warfare 3gamesharing not working, but it remains to be seen if this was a deliberate choice on the part of Activision. Some may recall thatDiablo 4gamesharing had its fair share of early access issuesearlier this year, but those problems were eventually ironed out. It’s possibleModern Warfare 3’s gamesharing problem is a similar early access issue that will be resolved come launch on November 10, but Activision has yet to comment on the matter.
Then again, it’s also possible that gamesharing won’t be available inModern Warfare 3at all, and fans should brace themselves for that possibility. While it’s being pitched as a full-fledged new game,Modern Warfare 3exists in theCall of Dutyhub that housesModern Warfare 2andWarzone. This has had the game essentially labeled as a DLC add-on toMW2as opposed to a completely separate entity, resulting in itnot even having its own Platinum trophy. One has to wonder if the reason whyMW3gamesharing isn’t working is because the game itself is being categorized in the same way as Operator skins or COD Points, meaning it’s tied specifically to the account that purchased it and would therefore not eligible for gamesharing. However, that’s just speculation at this time, and it’s entirely possible that theModern Warfare 3gamesharing issue has a completely different explanation.
Hopefully Activision shares clarification onMW3gamesharing sooner rather than later so fans know if this is a deliberate choice or if it’s an error that will be resolved.
