Player Mistakes
Back to All Characters
As far asGenshin Impactgoes, Kuki was the first time players potentially have an Electro character that can heal. Sadly, her healing and the rest of her kits are all suffering from the problem of split scaling. Kuki Shinobu’s healing mainly scales with her HP, but it can also be boosted by having Elemental Mastery. Meanwhile, her Elemental Skill damage scales with ATK, yet her Ultimate scales with HP.

This can be really confusing as people will have to decide if they want to focus on ATK, HP, or Elemental Mastery. Among the manymistakes players can make when using Kuki ShinobuinGenshin Impact, these are some of the most notable ones that Travelers should try to avoid.
Updated July 24th, 2023, by Nahda Nabiilah: Elemental Mastery was infamous on Electro characters for being underwhelming since they’re not as good as Cryo, Pyro, and Hydro with their Vaporize and Melt. However, thanks to the release of Dendro in version 3.0, Electro becomes a powerhouse with Elemental reactions, enough to compete with the mighty Vaporize and Melt. This extends to characters that are given extra perks when they have Elemental Mastery on their stat, like Yae Miko and Kuki Shinobu. Between the two, however, Kuki gains an immense boost with Dendro Elemental reaction, enough to add several entries to the list of things players should note while playing Kuki in Genshin Impact.

10Underestimating Elemental Mastery on her
Before Dendro is available, the extra stuff Kuki Shinobu gets from having Elemental Mastery felt useless and out of place, but now, Elemental Mastery is basically a must-have for Shinobu. This is becauseshe’s currently the best character for the Hyperbloom Elemental reaction, which is not only powerful but can also be pulled off in a F2P team, for instance, by using Dendro MC, Xingqiu, Kuki Shinobu, and any DPS.
This also means players should give her weapons that boost Elemental Mastery. One of the best choices is the Key of Khaj-Nisut, which boosts her HP, Elemental Mastery, and also buff the team all at the same time. Other swords like Freedom-Sworn and Iron Sting are also good for her.

9Including Her In The Wrong Teams
Kuki may be a typical healer, but she’ll be wasted if players use her for solely that. Shinobu has a stable Electro application, so she makes a great unit for reactions like Hyperbloom and Superconduct. Additionally, her periodical hit from her Elemental Skill also means she’s an excellent contender for supportive Artifacts like 4-Tenacity of the Millelith or weapons like Key of Khaj-Nisut or Freedom-Sworn, which requires constant Elemental Skill hits or Elemental reaction triggers.
Therefore, even though players shouldn’t be building a team around a healer, placing Kuki Shinobu in a party where she can shine her brightest is a grand idea as she has so much to offer.

8Holding Back On Maximizing Her Level
Previously, leveling Kuki up is not too crucial considering she’s a mere healer. But, now that she’s highly viable for the Hyperbloom reaction, players shouldn’t hold back to maximize her level. This is because Elemental reactions inGenshin Impactalways scale with the trigger character’s level, so upgrading Kuki will increase her Hyperbloom damage.
Of course, on top of that, players will also get more HP on the Ex-Shrine Maiden, which means better healing and less HP problem while battling in time-limited content like the Spiral Abyss.

7Building Her On ATK
Kuki Shinobu’s Elemental Skill damage scales with ATK, however, even if players build her on ATK/Electro/Crit, Kuki Shinobu will still deal mediocre damage. Because of this, it is not worth it to build the Ex-Shrine Maiden on ATK or Electro DMG. Players are better off with other stats that she needs.
This means thatplayers should also steer clear from focusing onGenshin Impactweaponsthat boost her offensive stat. This includes ATK, Critical Rate, and Critical Damage. Additionally, Kuki Shinobu also doesn’t really need Energy Recharge since her healing comes from Skill.

6Not Knowing Her Best Damage Build
So what is the best damage build for Kuki Shinobu? Well, if players want to maximize their Electro Healer’s damage, they should design her to deal as much Elemental reaction damage as they can.
RELATED:Genshin Impact: Ways To Get Acquaint Fate
This can be done by stacking Elemental Mastery on her Timepiece, Goblet, and Circlet. Additionally, while 4-Tenacity of the Millelith is amazing for the team, if players want to ensure Kuki Shinobu deals as much personal damage as possible, they can use her to deal Hyperbloom, which means 4-Flower of Paradise Lost is her best friend.
5Not Knowing How To Maximize Her Healing
As previously mentioned, Shinobu really suffers from split scaling. For Kuki Shinobu to maximize her healing inGenshinImpact, players need to build her on HP and Healing Bonus. As for the Artifact set, 4-Maiden Beloved or 2-Maiden Beloved + 2-Ocean-Hued Clam is the best option players can use. Meanwhile, her weapon should be either Freedom-Sworn, Primordial Jade Cutter, or Iron Sting.
Kuki Shinobu’s healing comes from her Elemental Skill. The ring of her Skill lasts for 12 seconds and will heal every 1.5 seconds. This means, at C0, players will get eight ticks of healing after casting her Elemental Skill.

4Focusing Too Much On Her Burst
Whenplayers cast Kuki Shinobu’s Elemental Burst inGenshin Impact, she will create a small circle that deals damage for a few seconds before disappearing. Her AOE will deal damage seven times, scaling with her maximum HP. Sadly, even if players are building Kuki Shinobu on HP/Electro/Crit, the damage dealt by this ability is still not worth losing her healing numbers.

Therefore, it is not necessary to build Kuki Shinobu on Electro or Energy Recharge. This is why Energy Recharge weaponsare also not a good option for her. Additionally, the Ex-Shrine Maiden also doesn’t provide any supportive ability from her Elemental Burst, apart from some Elemental reactions she can trigger.
3Upgrading The Wrong Talent
Because Kuki Shinobu ismeant to be played as a support inGenshin Impact, it won’t be necessary for players to level her Normal Attack. Her best ability lies in her Elemental Skill, the one that provides healing and Electro application. As for her Elemental Burst, it is okay to level it, but Travelers should not focus on it.
Therefore, here is the Talent priority when upgrading Kuki Shinobu:
2Not Managing Her HP
When Kuki Shinobu casts her Elemental Skill, she will consume 30% of her current HP. Don’t worry though, the HP reduction from this ability will not go lower than 20% of her maximum HP. While this may seem scary, players would want to keep Kuki Shinobu’s HP lower than 50% as this will increase her healing and Burst damage.
RELATED:Genshin Impact: Best Weapon Passives
From herGenshin Impactpassive, Kuki will gain a 15% extra Healing Bonus when her HP is 50% or less. Meanwhile, the duration of her Elemental Burst will increase from two seconds to three and a half seconds if she meets the low HP condition.
1Ignoring Ocean-Hued Clam As A Healer
For those who want Kuki Shinobu as a dedicated healer, they shouldn’t miss out on Ocean-Hued Clam. If people are building her on HP/HP/Healing Bonus, Kuki will deal around 10k + 10k + 7k damage on every Skill rotation.
Afterunlocking her second Constellation inGenshin Impact, this number is further boosted as her Skill will last longer, thus accumulating more healing. Instead of eight ticks of healing and damage, players will get 10 triggers of her Skill.

Genshin Impactis now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
