Player Mistakes
Back to All Characters
The long-awaited character, Furina, has finally become playable withGenshin Impact’s version 4.2 update. She joins the roster as the latest Hydro character up to date, offering players the opportunity to include her in their team compositions. Furina’s abilities align with the strengths of her element and the overarching theme of the Fontaine region. Furina focuses on HP gain and loss mechanics, as well as a unique Arkhe mechanic, to benefit both herself and her team.
When examining Furina’s talents, players may notice that the descriptions are quite lengthy compared to those of many otherGenshin Impactcharacters. This can lead to some confusion about how to effectively play her. Here are some key aspects to pay attention to to maximize Furina’s potential.

5Not Making the Best of Her Arkhe Abilities
While manyplayers initially used Arkhe abilities primarily for explorationrather than combat, in Furina’s case, they hold great importance in both aspects. Interestingly, Furina can utilize both the Pneuma and Ousia Arkhe, making her incredibly versatile. This versatility extends to exploration, where she can effectively solve puzzles and open chests without relying on other characters ornearby tools both overground and underwater.
However, Furina’s Arkhe mechanic also significantly affects her role in team compositions. With her starting Arkhe, Ousia, Furina can summon three adds to assist as sub-DPS at the cost of the characters' HP. On the other hand, when switching to the Pneuma Arkhe, she can focus on healing the team members instead. Furina’s Arkhe abilities allow her to seamlessly transition between different roles within a team, with a simple charged attack changing her alignment. Players can easily track these changes by observing her appearance and the corresponding summons, which also inherit the remaining duration of her Elemental Skill.

4Not Building Her Right
When a character can excel in various roles, it can be challenging for players to determine the optimal build. Fortunately, for Furina, both her damage-dealing and healing capabilities scale with her maximum HP, making HP% the primary stat to focus on when building her. In addition, since her sub-DPS potential is more relevant than her healing, equipping the Golden Troupeartifact set is an excellent choice, as she will often be off the field, letting her maximize her supportive role.
The main exception to this general build is if players have unlockedFurina’s sixth constellation, which not only enhances her overall damage output but also introduces new mechanics when she is on the field. In such cases, Golden Troupe may not be as effective of a choice. Furthermore, some players may consider using a Hydro Damage bonus Goblet for Furina. This option becomes more viable, particularly after obtaining her second constellation. Prior to that, focusing on HP% will bring greater benefits to her and the team, even without any constellations.

3Not Using Her Elemental Burst Effectively
Furina’s Elemental Burst is exceptionally valuable for increasing the team’s DPS and healing potential. To fully harness its power, players must either gain or lose a significant percentage of HP to maximize the Fanfare stacks, which provide substantial team buffs. To achieve this effectively, players can rely on the DPS minions summoned by Furina, as they deplete the team’s HP. Additionally, characters such as Wriothesleyor Neuvillette, who have HP-draining and HP-gaining mechanics, can help quickly reach the maximum Fanfare stacks.
It’s worth noting that, while Furina may be an off-field character, it’s crucial to use Furina’s Elemental Burst off cooldown whenever possible even if it means some combo might get interrupted. Fortunately, her Elemental Burst has a short cooldown, a long duration, and a low energy cost, making it relatively easy to keep up its usage for maximum benefits.

2Not Understanding How Her Elemental Skill Works
Furina’s Elemental Skill is equally valuable to her Elemental Burst, although it serves a different purpose, and some players may find it confusing to make the most of its functionality. In general, Furina’s primary Arkhe is Ousia, making her a sub-DPS characterwith three adds that deal damage, while she can be swapped to Pneuma when the team requires healing. If players already have other characters capable of healing in their composition, swapping to Pneuma may be less critical. Still, to save a slot for another support character, players can considerusing her as a healer, which will require them to swap more frequently.
Fortunately, players can easily switch her Arkhe alignment by making her the active character and using a charged attack to change alignments, automatically swapping the summoned adds in the process without the need to re-cast the Elemental Skill. However, this won’t refresh the Elemental Skill’s duration, but rather inherit the existing duration, so players must remember to swap to Furina to continue the rotation effectively. It’s important to note that Furina’s Elemental Skill functions differently if players have access to her sixth constellation, as she can provide added (opposite) benefits with both Arkhe alignments.

1Not Paying Attention to the Team’s HP
Given Furina’s ability to both heal and deplete HP, there will be significant fluctuations in the team’s HP during combat. While players shouldn’t obsess over maintaining high HP for their characters, it’s beneficial to do so because the DPS adds will continue to deplete allies' HP until it’s around 50%. Below this threshold, the utility and DPS potential of these adds will drop, and Fanfare stack gain speed may also suffer. In such cases, players should be quick to swap to Furina’s Pneuma Arkhe or use other methods of healing when necessary.
Initially, this might seem like a loss of DPS potential through Furina, but, in fact, it can work to the team’s advantage. Players can choose the best course of action for Furina based on the remaining HP levels of the characters.
