Aloy, the protagonist ofHorizon Zero Dawn, is also a Cryo bow user inGenshin Impact. Her arrival has been highly anticipated as the first collaboration character and every player was gifted with her during the collaboration duration. While she’s not popular among many players, Aloy can still bevaluable as a Cryo main or sub-DPSwith a unique play style and talent kit. Proper build and strategy can make Aloy a satisfying choice for those who appreciate her character or prefer less popular options.

As Aloy is a Cryo character, she can fit well in a variety of team compositions inGenshin Impactthat canutilize strong elemental reactions. She can be used as a Cryo main DPS or sub-DPS depending on the team’s needs. Her abilities, including her Elemental Skill and Elemental Burst, make her a versatile addition to any team. When it comes to team compositions, Aloy can work well in a Freeze composition where a 4-piece Blizzard Strayer artifact set can provide the team with increased Cryo damage. Additionally, Aloy can also excel in Melt compositions, however in this case she is better off with having more elemental mastery in her build while utilizing only a 2-piece of Blizzard Strayer.
Permafrost Teams
Although Permafrost or Permafreeze is not a reaction on its own, it has become a popular term among Genshin Impact fans due to Frozen effects being quite long-lasting and can be consistently re-applied. This reaction provides excellent defense, making it difficult for enemies to attack, even without a shielder character. Moreover, it can also be a potent offensive option, as the Cryo resonance and Blizzard Strayer artifact set offer additional Crit Rate, allowing players to focus on other stats such as Crit DMG. As a result, Aloy can be utilized as both a Main-DPS or sub-DPS in Permafrost teams, depending on players' preferences.
Aloy + Ayaka + Kokomi + Kazuha

In this team composition, Aloy is utilized as a Sub-DPS, with players focusing primarily on her Elemental Skill and Burst rather than her Normal attacks. Aloy’s abilities can help apply Cryo and slightly buff the team’s ATK. However, Aloy’s Cryo-infused Normal attacks are not necessary since Ayaka can provide near-permanent Cryo infusion after sprinting, and her Elemental Burst deals high damage and applies Cryo to trigger Freeze reaction consistently. Therefore, Ayaka should be the priority when building the team and take up most of the field time. Without aconsistent Hydro applierlike Kokomi (or Xingqiu, Yelan or Mona), this team cannot work. Kokomi, who also works as a Healer, is a great candidate for the Ocean-Hued Clam artifact set but can also utilize the Tenacity of the Millelith set to provide an ATK buff to both Ayaka and Aloy, making her a buffer effectively. Lastly, Kazuha will be utilized by grouping enemies together, providing an Elemental DMG buff to the team, and debuffing the enemies by reducing their Elemental resistance.

Aloy + Mona + Venti + Diona

This team composition is designed for players who want to use Aloy as the Main DPS in a perma-freeze team. Aloy’s Cryo-infused Normal attacks are crucial for keeping the Freeze reaction going, so players should focus on building her for maximum damage output. Mona is essential for effective Hydro application, while Venti’s Elemental Burst is useful for crowd control and Hydro-infused swirling. Mona’s Elemental Burst with the Omen mechanic can boost Aloy’s damage, particularly for her Elemental Burst. Diona’s healing andshield abilities make her a good choicefor a more defensive playstyle, and she can also buff party members with Elemental Mastery if players have access to her sixth constellation. Additionally, Diona can act as a battery to ensure Aloy and Mona can activate their Elemental bursts frequently. Overall, this team composition is similar to the popularMorgana team composition, but with Ganyu replaced by Aloy.
Melt Teams
The Melt reaction is widely used in Genshin Impact due to its high damage potential. Aloy can activate this reaction effectively if she has access to quick and consistent Pyro application. Players should note that triggering the Melt reaction after applying Cryo with Pyro will result in a 2x multiplier, while the usual multiplier is 1.5x. Although Aloy is better suited for reverse melt (Pyro + Cryo), players can still optimize damage output with careful planning.
Aloy + Xiangling + Sucrose + Diona

This team composition is designed to be accessible for F2P players who may not have many 5-star characters. Aloy serves as the primary DPS, utilizing Cryo to consistently trigger (Reverse) Melt reactions with her Elemental Skill, Elemental Burst and Normal attacks. Xiangling is crucial for this team as a sub-DPS, providing consistent Pyro application through her Elemental Burst. Sucrose can further enhance the Pyro application with her own Burst, while also providing buffs and acting as a battery ifher constellations are unlocked. Alternatively, Kazuha can be used in her place. Lastly, Diona’s role is to heal, shield, and serve as a battery to ensure Aloy and Xiangling can use their Bursts off cooldown.
Aloy + Nahida + Xiangling + Bennett
WhileDendro doesn’t provide an Elemental Reactionwith Cryo on its own, it does give access to making Melt reactions more consistent by activating the Burning reaction, which consistently applies Pyro to the enemies. For this team to work effectively, the Burning reaction, however, must be kept, which can be a challenge at certain times. Luckily, Nahida is a great support character for this team, as her Tri-Karma Purification links and spreads the reaction to all enemies, dealing damage consistently and allowing the Burning reaction to continue much longer than otherwise possible, essentially replacing the use of an Anemo character in this place. Xiangling’s and Aloy’s roles remain the same as the primary Pyro and Cryo enablers, with the addition of Bennett, who will be utilized as a battery, healer, and buffer in Diona’s place otherwise. Players should keep in mind that as Xiangling’s Elemental Burst snapshots, her Elemental Burst is ideally used after Bennett’s Burst for increased damage potential.
