AGenshin Impactplayer has shared a helpful chart that divides characters by their weapon/element combination. At the moment, there are seven different elements in the game with Dendro being the most recent addition. This was the only element that was missing since release until it got introduced alongside the Sumeru region.
The only two playable that can control two different elements are the two main characters, Aether and Lumine. Both of them have the same and can produce identical damage numbers with their appearance being the only difference. The Traveler’s primary weapon is the sword which is one of the five weapon types inGenshin Impact.

A Reddit user named Ehco13 has shared an interesting chart that shows which characters have the same combination of elements and weapons. At the moment, theCryo element has the highest number of representativeswith 12 characters using this Vision. There are also 4 sword users that wield this element which is the largest number of characters that have a specific weapon/element combination. The most recently added Cryo character was the polearm user Mika who arrived in the second banner phase of the previous update. He is a decent four-star support who can dish out decent damage while providing decent healing effects to the whole party. SomeGenshin Impactfans in the comment section have been complaining about the fact that there is still no catalyst Cryo user in the game.
Many fans think that a Cryo catalyst character would probably break the game’s meta since they would be able to constantlytriggerGenshin Impact’s Frozen elemental reaction. Catalyst is the only weapon type that applies elemental damage with Normal, Charged, and Plunging Attacks. There are also no claymore characters that use the Hydro element at the moment which seems odd considering that this weapon type was widely considered the best in the early stages of the game.
This will probably change in the foreseeable future considering thatthe upcoming Fontaine regionwill probably add some new Hydro characters to the game. A lot of fans in the comment section have also pointed out that the Geo element has only seven users on the roster.
In comparison, with the recent announcement of the new four-star Kirara for update 3.7, there will be 8 characters that use the Dendro element, even though it arrived to the game in 3.0. Players have also been complaining that there are alsono Geo characters on the Standard Bannerwhile some elements like Pyro have two representatives.
Genshin Impactis now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
